cost of living in today financial climate.

can anyone who has recently been here advise usas to the cost of living, eating out and buying a beer /wine etc. Alos what is the fishing like and is it expensive to go deep sea fishing.

Was there a year ago and found things quite pricey then though there are tourist menu specials which keep the cost down.

Of course now the £ is close to parity with the Euro things will seem more expensive.

Also everything depends on whether you eat where the locals go and then it would be cheaper though not that much since Guadeloupe is a French 'depetment'and so prices are similar to those in France.

Don't know how the locals manage and if you check the news you will see there has been a lot of unrest regarding the cost of living recently.

We stayed in Gosier and prepaid some hotel meals (buffet style)and that saved a little but it wasn't really the true cuisine for which the island is famous.

Can't answer any fishing questions apart from noting a wide choice available at the fish market in Pointe a Pitre.

many thanks for your help. we do rather fancy it but i feel that given rate of pound to euro, does seem rather expensive.
