Walking on the Carribean Street

Hello,

Has anyone walked on the Carribean Street lately? I have read that the street in by the Riu's on Bavaro Beach area. I will be staying at the Majestic Colonial and wanted to walk over to check out the shops. I just want to make sure that it's open to the public.

We were there the last 2 weeks of April and had no problem - we stay at the Bahia Ambar and it is relatively close. I don't believe it is owed by the Riu resorts - not sure tho, but we generally walk down there at least 4-5 times during out 14 day stay. From the Majestic, it will be a lovely walk along the beach, but I would do it in the morning before it gets too hot.

What type of shops do they have? Is there an entrance marked from the beach? I am sure I have walked past this section but do not recall anything posted saying where it was.

Hello,

Check out the search forum.....carribean street. There is a link that brings up the pictures of the street.

I can't for the life of me get it to post here so everyone can open it.

Sorry.

Looks nice alot of shops, on a street

No luck, no joy.

Anyway I gather it is on the beach. If I am standing on the beach in the Ambar section facing the ocean, is it to my right or to my left and about how long a walk to get there?

Okay, found out it's about 600 m from the Bahia Complex - still wondering which way (guessing right, as I face the ocean).

We were there a few years ago, it has many little shops, like the beach market...there was a salon, photo hut, drug store, mini mart...

If I am not mistaken it's between 2 Rui resorts (can't remember the names)
