I've been there already so have a pretty good idea of how things are, but heard of a new "burger, snack" bar opening for late nights after the theater...is it open? how was it? Are they doing beach parties? We are planning a return trip unless one of the other top 5 resorts comes in at a super price for June. Anything new to the resort that you know of? New pillows? DVD players? Get rest..and welcome back:)

Just turned on the computer, here it goes. BTW I posted a rating for the Majestic, but I'm not sure when it will appear.

dropusaline - Salut to my old stomping ground. Yes there was pool service, but I didn't notice it everyday. We were closer to the entrance than the beach, but I did see wait staff all around the compound. Not sure about the beach. And yes the pile of laundry is huge.

WJW - We were in room 2215, second floor right next to the pool and about the 1/3 point (the beach being 3, lobby/restaurant area being 0). We asked for something as close to the beach as possible, but since the resort was pretty much full, we couldn't move any closer. The room was nice and we got the morning sun. If you select buildings, try to avoid the 1000 series as these will have a pond set up in the middle, but you won't see the pool or beach. As for great meals, book the Teppanyaki and Le Gourmet (the cream of pumpkin soup is a must have) upon your arrival. The Rodeo steak restaurant is on the beach and was very good.

lovetotravelconn - Unfortunately you can't book restaurants until your room has been assigned at check-in, so go immediately to the desks right at the entrance (on the other side of the lobby away from reception) and find the sign that says "Restaurant Reservations" and see what you can get. I'll warn you that Teppanyaki books up extremely fast, in fact we could only get the reservation for our last dinner. Good luck

mjw51 - Hope this reply hasn't missed you. The weather for us was not great by Punta Cana standards; Monday and Wednesday did have some rain and overcast skies. The rest of the week was fairly good and we still came home with great tans. Majestic Mike admitted that the week was not the norm so don't worry. BTW 40% chance of rain is only a few showers and 30% is unlikely, according to Majestic Mike. The hotel is fantastic, drinks are excellent, and the food is good, but even better at the theme restaurants (Matsuri, Taino, Rodeo).

oneofthree - The "La B Del M" is the new late night snack food place (23:30 - 06:00) and is just past the theatre and shops/casino/disco. We had a burger and hot dog, which was OK. Don't expect Nathan's, however. I didn't see any beach parties, but there may have been some impromptu things going on. Same pillows, however there were two thick pillows in the closet which were great. No DVD players either to the best of my knowledge. These are amenities that I'm sure will come with time, but not having them will not stop us from going back.

Any other questions, feel free to drop a line.

My husband and I are going in May. What is the dress code for men at all the restaurants? Can he wear dress shorts for dinner?

wiskie8 - The general indication is that while you will be served regardless of type of clothing, the Majestic does have a dress code for men of long sleeve shirts or polos and long pants for their restaurants (this is noted in the "passport" you will receive at check-in). At breakfast and lunch in the buffet restaurants, people wore whatever they wanted and there was a mix at the beach front restaurants for dinner (Rodeo). However at the more formal restaurants (Matsuri, Taino, Le Gourmet), I rarely saw anyone in shorts or t-shirts. Hope this helps.

Should clarify....shirts do not have to be "long sleeved"....but sleeved...in otherwords...no muscle shirts!
