Things to do in St James’ Parish

Hi all!

My partner and I are going on Thursday for two weeks. Can anyone recommend things to do and prices please? REALLY EXCITED!

We’re 20 and 26 so nothing too archaic (no offence to the wiser of this forum!), but equally something nice and chilled is welcome as well.

Any other advice would also be welcome! :D

G

Well , apart from the beach and going to Surfside Happy Hour ( on the beach behind Holetown police Station and opposite Massy ) 4.30 to 5.30 pm , followed by Zaccios Happy Hour next door, just don't miss the Sunday night Street party.

Folk usually go to Surfside to see the Steel Pan band ( and eat ) until around 10 pm, then walk north along the main road a short way to the first road you come to opposite Limegrove and you will find 1st Street. One Love Rum Shop on there has held the Sunday Street party and Karaoke for close to 25 years and it's the most famous party on the Island . Drink, dance and sing with the locals and visitors until 1am and have a great time. Just pray it doesn't rain, as Bajans don't do rain !!

Where will you be staying. ?

You could also book to see the famous Drag show at Ragamuffins on Sunday night, then join the Party on the street afterwards.

Friday night, 2nd Street is the place to be with some restaurants having live music, and two night clubs Red Door Lounge and Jamestown Bar and Grill. Plus there is a good lively bar across the road from the One Love Bar on 1st Street ------------------and don't forget One Love Bar on other nights. Cheap drink and you can put the world to rights with the locals.

Thanks so much!

We’re staying at Lantana apartments, St James’ Parish. There’s a lovely beach just over the road apparently. Have you ever done any boat trips: snorkelling?

Best snorkeling is at Folkestone Marine Park in Holetown - take the bus south

also good snorkeling off the reef in front of Palm Beach condos (next to Mango Bay hotel) Holetown

Best snorkeling is with Marvin Sobers and his traditional glass bottom boat Marvellous 1 His cell number is 246 247 2048 or you can find him on Facebook under Marvin Sobers or

Be aware that the beach opposite Lantana has no facilities and is very quiet. You would do better to catch a bus a couple of stops south to Alleynes Beach and spend the day there at Ju Ju's or Santi's Beach Bars. Also , in between them, you will find one of the best Restaurants on the Island ( the best in my opinion ) Lone Star . Do have lunch there and dinner during your holiday.

To the north, you have the Fish Market at Weston and a bit further on, Mullins Beach, but it is nowhere as good as Alleynes.

You might also check out De Outback in Lower Carlton -- they have evening entertainment some nights ... karaoke - ,music etc

and you may like the fishfry at Mertons and St Elmos in Moontown (not St James - St Peter just north ) - it;s an inexpensive night out
