ANY of the three(3) dining rooms at THE REEFS HOTEL--Royston's (indoor), OCEAN ECHO (indoor & outdoor dining terrace on the cliff-tops), COCONUTS (covered dining deck, built into the living rock, a few feet above the sand and back from the surf)-- http://www.thereefs.com/dining/index.shtml
HENRY VIII RESTAURANT & PUB--both more formal dining room and Pub dining...pretty good '..pub entertainment after dinner service--
The DINING ROOM--at the base of Gibb's Hill Light House--
Other good fine dining options in the general vicinity--
IL SPLENDIDO--(at Horizons & Cottages)--
I'm sending my parents to the Fairmont Southampton in 2 weeks. They can take taxis anywhere for dinner. Would you kindly recommend what you consider the 4 best restaurants in Bermuda? Money is no object - I am looking for special occasion places or places with exceptional food.
When I visited 3 years ago, I ate at Acqua - not so great; L'Oriental - I liked it but I don't think they will like it; Waterlot - fair, but they live in New York, and have access to great steakhouses; and Blue - unusual, but good food.
FOURWAYS INN-- http://www.fourwaysinn.com/#
and for the rest, you could probably pick any of these options (and perhaps others) for the next three on the list--
BARACUDA GRILL-- http://www.barracuda-grill.com/index2.html
Get around any notion that you'll find anything approaching '..great..' food in Bermuda. It's no accident that there are no Michelin-starred restaurants in Bermuda. The best it rises to is '..very good..', on some occasions. Bermuda has better beaches...Paris has better restaurants. Everything's a trade-off.
Thanks so much for your advise and insight. From my very limited exposure to Bermuda food, I would agree that Bermuda is not a gourmet dining destination.
GR, I tend to agree. It always blows me away how lacking it seems the dining scene truly is on BDA. I find there are some amazing food critics on www.chowhound.com who can definitely steer you in the right direction. Click on the Caribbean board. Athena is reliable in her recs.Edited: 06 September 2010, 21:09
I would have to add Ascots to KDK's list. I particularly like lunch there. Very relaxed.
