Closest place to airport for transportation passes

We will be arriving in Bermuda on a Tuesday midday in June. I understand that transportation passes are no longer available at the airport. Where is the closest place to the airport to purchase the passes now? We will be staying at a cottage in Warwick, and hoped to have the passes in hand before leaving the airport. I guess we will have the taxi driver make a detour...but to where? Thanks.

You may purchase the TRANSPORTATION PASS at the main bus terminal in Saint George's (on Duke of York St)...at the main bus terminal in downtown Hamilton (Washington St..next to City Hall..btwn" Church & Victoria Sts)...at the main ferry terminal on the downtown Hamilton waterfront (at the 'Birdcage'..Front & Queen Sts)....at the VISITOR'S SERVICE desk, within the 'gazebo' GIFT SHOP in the Dockyard complex

You may also purcahse the TRANSPORTATION PASS at POST OFFICE branches throughout Bermuda (Open 8:00 AM-5:00 PM). Not sure where your guest accommodation location is in Warwick Parish but the WARWICK Post Office branch is located at 70 Middle Road (directly across from St. Mary's Rd...just west of Kyber Pass Rd). Post Office branch locations are indicated by '..envelope..' icons on the Bermuda-Handy Reference Map.

**SOME** hotels and guest accommodations **MAY***SOMETIMES***...have **LIMITED** supplies of the TRANSPORTATION PASS and/or bus TOKENS on hand.

Some post offices, if not all, close for about an hour at lunchtime.

If you are staying at a private rental property, you can probably arrange with the owner/agent to pre-purcahse and leave TRANSPORTATION PASSES for you at your rental cottage for when you arrive. Some Bermudian rental property owners will extend this courtesy to guests. Contact them DIRECTLY with your request.

The costs for the TRANSPORTATION PASS are:

1 Day Pass--$12.00

2 Day Pass--$20.00

3 Day Pass--$28.00

4 Day Pass--$35.00

7 Day Pass--$45.00

Month Pass--$55.00

I've mentioned this before but it's worth repeating. The monthly pass at $55 is a very good deal if you are staying for two weeks or longer. A little more than half the cost of 2 seven day passes. The pass is for a calendar month so just make sure that your vacation days don't overlap two different months. You get a credit card size plastic card with the month printed on it.

Thanks so much for all the great info.

It seems absurd to me that these passes aren't any longer available at the airport (particularly on an island where transportation options for non-residents are limited) but you've given good info.

I can certainly understand the need to reduce costs...and manning the airport Visitor's Information desk was always a problem, since there's nothing else there to attract applicants for the job.

I've always thought that a simple self-serve, vending machine would suffice for dispensing Transportation Passes and perhaps bus Tokens or Tickets. But bear in mind that at its core, Bermuda is really just a '..small town..'...with most of the same '..complications..' that this often generates.

Five'll get ya' ten that the reason(s) have something to do with upsetting taxi drivers...transport workers' union...potential decreases in Ministry of Transportation bus fare revenues...and tryin' to decide which agency(s) pays for the machine, the salary portion of whomever is detailed to re-fill it and/or is responsible for payin' the rent to the airport authority for the space it occupies, electric bills and maintenance charges to keep it runnin'....and then pickin' the members of a bi-partisan, standing, inter-agency, over-sight committee to 'manage' the '..program..'. Sounds nutz...but I'll bet it's as 'simple' as that.

Pick up a pass each when you arrive. You will not regret it.

So nice to have a break where transportation is the least of your concerns.
