Need some info re accomodation, weather, things to see

Hi everyone,

We are considering Bermuda for next year'svacation as it looks so beautiful :)

1. For guaranteed sunny skies and beach weather but not too hot would June be a good month to go?

2. We are considering staying at the Clairfont apartments - can anyone give feedback on these?

3. Is it easy to ride a scooter?..LOL ;)

4. Apart from all the stunning beaches and snorkelling, are there places to see luch greenery and unusual flowers/plants or birdlife?

Thanks for any input.

Kirsten

>>>1. For guaranteed sunny skies and beach weather but not too hot would June be a good month to go?<<<

June is usually a GREAT month for Bermuda (last June being the extraordinary exception). Average daytime Air Temps will run in a range from the low-70ºs-to-low-80ºs (6º-10º cooler in the evenings. Humidity is variable. Ocean Water Temps will range from the mid-to-high-70ºs. Conditions that are for most '..perfect beach weather. But...weather is weather...and there are NO GUARANTEES (last June, 2009 was the proof of this)

>>>2. We are considering staying at the Clairfont apartments - can anyone give feedback on these?<<<

CLAIRFONT APARTMENTS-- http://www.clairfontapartments.bm/ --is a first rate choice for mosedtly/moderately priced, self-catering guest accommodations...relatively close (within easy strolling/walking distance) to the some of Bermuda's very best, south shore beaches. From the front door of your cottage to the sand at WARWICK LONG BAY beach is approx. 400 yards...100-150 yards out Warwickshire Drive to the South Road bus stop for the #7-Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard public bus route.

Clairfont is very well maintained and managed by its owner, Corrine Simons and her staff. The relative quality of the property is evidenced by its' high, very loyal, multi-repeat-visit clientelle. Accommodations are clean, well maintained and basically but adequately furnished, equippend and decorated. You may draw your own conclusions from the consistently '..glowing..' reviews and comments by past guests over many years.

>>>3. Is it easy to ride a scooter?<<<

YES...and...NO. ..There is just enough truth in '..if you can ride a bicycle; you can ride a motorscooter..' to be dangerous..for those STUPID enough to believe it. For starters, when was the last time you rode a 300 lb. bicycle...at 25 mph...on sometimes congested, winding, narrow roads...on the 'wrong' side of the road ?? No..motorscooters are not for everyone.

Having said this...riding a motorscooter isn't all that difficult...IF...you take your time, PRACTICE riding and getting the '..feel..' for the equipment--how it operates, handles and responds--BEFORE you tear off out into unfamiliar roads and traffic patterns. then PAY ATTENTION to what you're doing, as well as what others are doing around you and approach riding one with the same RESPECT and discretion you would when operating any ***SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE***. No matter how 'disney-esque' the surrounding appear; rental motorscooters are ***NOT*** amusement park rides.. Tens-of-thousands of touris/visitors ride rentel motorscooters in Bermuda every year, without the least incident or mishap.

As small as Bermuda is, it has still managed to maintain an abundance of public parks, nature reserves and preserves---SPITTAL POND, HIGGS NATURE PRESERVE, COOPER ISLAND NATURE RESERVE, SOUTH SHORE PARK...as well as some positively wonderful sections of the BERMUDA RAILWAY TRAIL-- http://www.bermudarailway.net/

If you poke around within the WALKING CLUB of BERMUDA web site, you'll come across several good walks/hikes through Bermuda. If you're interested in hikimg Bermuda, than there's no better guide than, '..HIKING BERMUDA--20 Nature Walks and Day Hikes..' by Cecile Davidson (available in local bookstores)

You can rent small (15'-17'), self-drive, outboard-powered (25-30hp) 'Boston Whaler'-type skiffs and get away from shore and explore areas along Bermuda's western and north shores...as well as the waters and islands in and artound the Great Sound...stopping to swim, snorkel, picnic at likely looking spots as you go (leaving nothing behind save footprints in the sand).

Bermuda has as much '..nature..' and incredible natural beauty for a thousand islands.
