Supermarkets

So, next year, we are deviating from Spain (following 12 years holidaying there) to Northern Cyprus. Flights, accommodation, transfers sorted. A few questions: is there a good supermarket/hypermarket in the area, even if its a drive away, which is the best quiet beach to go to, and can anyone recommend a nice restaurant to take my lad who turns 18 whilst there. TIA

Hi,

As you drive along the main road from Kyrenia to Lapta you will see a number of supermarkets/mini markets.Take your pick.Likewise, there are a number of beaches, but how quiet they will be depends when you go,but if you stay on the road past Karsiyaka you may find what you want. The best and quietest beaches are,of course, along the Karpaz peninsular.

One thing Lapta isn't short of is decent restaurants,Cypriot,Italian,Indian are all there on the main road.

Bestmar supermarket is the cheapest at the moment. its a few hundred metres west from the main lapta strip. its also open 24hr so ideal if u need anything at any time of day/night. accessible by car or dolmus. sells all types of food and drinks etc groceries etc.

Most beaches are real quiet at the moment as all schools have gone back, lots of lovely beaches in and around lapta, karsiyaka, alsancak. etc if you're hiring a car look into venturing to karpaz. its well worth the couple hour drive to visit the white sand beaches, crystal clear sea, beautiful scenery and wild donkeys.

oh sorry, forgot to add....depends on what type of food you like for a good restaurant to treat your son for a birthday meal. theres a good array of different cuisines on lapta strip overlooking the sea. kyrenia harbour have some good restaurants overlooking the harbour, beautiful at night with views of the lit castle. may be worth looking at the restaurant reviews to see up to date reviews and what type of food they do and look through the photos. good luck, hope you have a great time when you get to lapta :)
