Getting around in Acadia National Park Oct 14-16

How is the best way to get around the park during the fall foliage weekend?

Park at the visitor center and take the Island Express bus?

Would I be able to find parking at Jordan Pond and Cadillac mountain?

I see the bicycle express bus closes on Sept. 30. How do out of towners bike

the trail? Do they rent a bicycle hitch for their car? Or do they just hike after Sept. 30?

The Island Explorer buses will no longer be running after October 9th. You'll have to use your car to get around. With patience you should be able to find parking at both Jordan Pond and the top of Cadillac.

You can either rent a hitch to carry bicycles or you can ride the bike right out of the village of Bar Harbor and up West Street to the carriage system at Duck Brook Bridge. And I do mean UP. It's a bit of a hill on West Street Extension to Duck Brook Road. You could also ride the bikes out Eagle Lake Road to Eagle Lake and the carriage road system. There is more auto traffic and no good shoulders however on Eagle Lake Road. The bicycle shop will explain your options and give you a map.
