Walk from Mazzaro to Taormina?

We are currently staying in Taormina and spotted a sign opposite the entrance to Isola Bella with steps on it indicating an uphill walk to Taormina. We have already been up to Taormina in a minibus - took 20 mins- & the funicular €3 took 5 mins (when there wasn't a queue). Really fancy trying the walk. Is it well signposted? We are quite fit, so not worried about the climb. How long should it take & where about does it come out in Taormina? Thanks.

If you fancy the walk, and you are fit, then walk.

It's all uphill, but you surely wouldn't be the first.

I did it once at 6 in the morning, fresh off the train with a rucksack. Never again!

The train station is located in Villagonia, and so further away than Mazzarò.

Timing would be different for everyone depending on fitness and stops for photos, but it would typically take less than half an hour.

It is a very nice walk and you can't get lost on it, be aware though that there is a short part of the walk where the steps disappear and it's quite stony, so I'd recommend footwear with a decent tread. Easier going uphill than down from that point of view!
