Split/Trogir area or Zadar. Depend on your flight. Both fabulous places with a lot interesting surroundings.

Flew to Dubrovnik late September weather wonderful! Stayed on Kolocep island off the main coast. Far too quiet but intend to return to stay on one of the larger islands this year. The local ferry is very efficient between the islands and to get to Dubrovnik. The City itself is fabulous but horrendously busy, especially when cruise ships arrive! If you intend to walk the walls - a must, start very early in the morning to avoid the tours and the heat. Visit Mostar - a real educational adventure.
