looking for somewhere really really prettty,is Komiza it?

Hi

Have spent years going to numerous unspoilt greek islands, really want to try Croatia but am overwhelmed by islands!.A little help would be greatly appreciated.

What we do want is somewhere very pretty and unspoilt, good food and a decent beach ideally and somewhere for some nice quiet walks.

What we definately don't want is lots of road noise, modern concrete jungles.

So far we have short listed Vis,Mijet,Brac and I keep coming back to Hvar but does it live up to the hype and will it be too buisy?

I really think Vis island would be the choice for you.

I think Komiza is prettier and quieter having stayed both in Vis Town and Komiza. I would also ask what time of year you will be going as Hvar Town is lovely out of season.

My vote goes for Komiza too !!!

Vis town is a beautiful town to walk around but Komiza is nicer to stay.

Nice beaches, nice people, nice walks around !

Taste Vugava wines, lobsters, Viska pogaca ...

Unfortunately (!!!) I have to agree that Komiza is wonderful. But don't tell anybody elsse!!!

Very helpful travel agency is www.darlic-travel.hr/ who aer situated about two minutes walk from the bus stop from Vis Town.

One word of caution - the bus that meets the ferry/seacat has a habit of pulling up, dropping off its passengers and then going off straight away! So make sure you get off the ferry/seacat quickly and be prepared to throw yourself in front of the bus to make it stops for you!

Can also recoomend Apartment Nani in Split if you need to stay a night due ferry/seacat timings.

Island of Vis is a great place, you won't regret it. Great resaturants and wine. Few great hidden beaches (like Stinva) Don't miss an excursion to Bisevo cave.

If you really, really love wild unspoiled islands, you could consider an one or two days trip to Kornati islands. There are no beaches there, but it's the best island wildness there is. It's hard to get any accomodation there, since there are no setllements or hotels, so you'll have to search for something in islands nearby (Žut, Žirje etc.)
