Wedding in Phuket but can't decide where to honeymoon. Help!

Hi all,

My fiance and I are from Australia but are getting married in Phuket in December 2012. We're planning to spend a week around there beforehand with friends and family so are looking to head AWAY from Thailand (and probably South East Asia all together) for our honeymoon.

But where to go...Greek Islands, the Maldives, Japan, Mauritius...we just can't settle on anything. I would love to have some action/adventure/exploring/wildlife options, my fiance would enjoy a secluded beach somewhere. If we could combine the two then even better!

We've been lucky enough to see East Africa, Europe and the Pacific. Unfortunately the Americas are in the wrong direction this time round.

Budget is around $5000 (if we could find an all inclusive resort then even better)...any ideas???

For all that you like and what the missus like I'd say Greek Islands.

Check out Crete and Santorini. You can just get a ferry between the islands.

I was going to say Maldives but you are limited to how much exploring you can do.

In Santorini we stayed in Oia in a small hotel with a pool.

In Crete we stayed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNh3tL-DAEU

Just go to the fullscreen to view.

Plenty of restaurant choices in both places too. In Santorini you can not go past Roka. And in Crete (Elounda) you have to check out Olondi Restaurant.

We've done Maldives a number of times and found Sun Island to have plenty of activities with an option of spending a day on their remote island next door. Also did Kuramathi and The W Resort & Spa.

Done Mauritius only once and preferred Maldives so never returned.

Forget Japan. Even if you go to Naha I doubt you would get warmer then 25C (77F).

Croatia might fit the bill - much like the Greek Islands - I honeymooned on the island of Lopud for a week, which meets your husband's criteria. Inland, and in nearby Bosnia and Montenegro plenty of nature and adventure... have fun!
