ViaResorts

Has anyone booked/used ViaResorts? They have a number of offers online including one at the moment for $278 for a couple for 7 nights at Absolute Sands Resort in Thailand (airfares and meals not included).

Seems too cheap but lots of good reviews on FB, but they could still be part of a complex scam. Saw a few references online from folks about it being a push for timeshare and needing to sit through a 90 min presentation before you can have the holiday.

I don't know the going rates for resorts in Thailand, but if the price sounds too good to be true it probably is. You may be able to find reviews of specific properties so if you are looking at a property through Via check out the property reviews.

Links I found. Honestly, when I read the T&C's, I was left thinking nothing special except that they might have a few agreements in place in Thailand. There is zero mention of this agency on TA forums, but I noted a definite pickup in promotion and marketing in the past 6-9 months. There are enough red flags for me to stay away.

Wondering if there us anyone who has used them yet? Looks like you have to attend a time-share presentation but that may not be so bad.

It's not too bad but just be warned they do put on the HARD sell. You want to be ready for a confrontation to get out of it.

We just checked in and checked out within the hour today. Hard sell is an understatement. The rep comes off desperate and extremely annoying. If you are happy to be harassed for a cheap trip, it's your choice. Save some more and stay somewhere where you are respected and left be

Hi Mona, we're sorry to hear about your experience at the resort. We've checked into this for you and it appears you remained unaware of the property's terms and conditions which they supplied in your confirmation letter when dates were confirmed. They are also in the terms advertised by the resort on the website at the time of purchase. While we do understand your frustration, please be aware ViaResorts provides a booking service for this and many other resorts and is not directly involved with decisions made by or at the resort or when a guest arrives. We are always sorry to hear when things go wrong, and endeavor to communicate between the resort and guests as best as we can. Our team has reached out to you in the meantime to see what we can do for you. Thanks, Michelle (ViaResorts)

I'm intrigued as to what was in the T&C's that Moomoo should have seen. I wonder if Moomoo can elaborate, or maybe confirm whether Via/Michelle have actually done anything other than sympathis and post here.

FALSE ADVERTISING. Their December promotion for Absolute Twin Sands Resort is blatant FALSE ADVERTISING. The main beach photo on the add is NOT Patong Beach, Thailand, but Phi Phi Island. Also, Google Map the resort and you will find it's not directly in Patong Beach but on a headland further south.

** Their December promotion for Absolute Twin Sands Resort is blatant FALSE ADVERTISING. **

While I agree with you, maybe Michelle M from Via has an explanation for this? Did they put the ad together or did the resort, for example? BTW, I think it's only the ad where the pic is wrong, not the actual resort page at Via.

For the record, I would have no use for this, as I've written above. But what I would have done and always do is to compare the actual listing with any advert I see. I think everyone needs to do deeper research.
