Is there an equivalent to TSA Pre-check in Europe?
Which country in Europe? Each country has its own airport security agencies and rules etc...
I'm curious about UK and Portugal
I have never seen anything except a shorter line due to airline status or cabin.
There is no equivalent in the UK, although there are shorter lines primarily for premium cabin and frequent flyer status passengers at most airports.
In some airports you can pay to use a "fast track" line, and even American Express Centurion cardholders can use fast track at some airports/terminals.
Yes in some Airports you can pay to access security via a shorter queue, monitored often by selling only a limited number of tickets per time period. However what doesn’t happen is the approach of Pre-check such as not needing the separate screening of laptops or removing belt or shoes. You will be checked in the same way as all other passengers but potentially quicker .
In Manchester T3 I found the fast lane to be slower than regular security! Less people, but less staff too

I've never used Fast Track because I've observed the very same thing on a regular basis at different airports, Loztastic. Not all the time, but enough to make me think it's too much of a gamble. I really wouldn't want to fork out and discover it actually takes longer than the free option.
