Scoot flight change

Hi

I was due to fly from Hong Kong to Singapore on the 3rd December I’ve just got an email from Scoot, I originally made the booking with tiger air and it looks like they have merged (I wish them every success) the issue is they have changed my flight time I was originally due to depart at 0700 and the flight is now departing at 1055 which is useless as I have connecting flights

They don’t have any other flights that day and it won’t be in that part of the world again for some time

Am I entitled to a refund …

Thanks in advance

Usually yes, but read the T&C's you agreed to as Scoot have a credit shell policy in most cases.

Ex-Australia they must refund due to local laws, but as for HKG I do not know/

This may help you

flyscoot.com/en/…our-promise-to-you

Quote from that page :

"If we inform you of any Schedule Change more than 24 hours before departure, please refer to our Conditions of Carriage for more details" then look ay section 9

Looks like as under 8 hrs you would be unlucky

That flight at 1055 on 3rd Dec you have shows currently as HKD 1,289 one way with only 1 seat left

They have a flight evening of Dec 2nd dep HKG ar 2135 arrives SIN at 0140 with a much lower fare of HKD 599 at the moment , they also have an evening of Dec 2nd dep 1900 arr 2305 into SIN I think was HKD 699

Perhaps if you could look into costs of 'changing your flight' that might work out best , but you would then have a night in Singapore

You will need to read thru a few things but as it is only a 3 hrs 55 min chhane , maybe changing your flight might be possible solution

Good Luck and let us know how it goes because your experience could help others

"I was originally due to depart at 0700 and the flight is now departing at 1055 which is useless as I have connecting flights" - Is it a proper connection with the flights being on the same ticket or do you have separate tickets for the respective flights.

<<separate tickets with BA>>

Then you didn't have a connecting flight, you have two separate flights and seemingly without enough time between the flights to take into account such schedule changes. Such is the issue with travelling the cheaper option rather than paying for a through ticket or a more expensive but safer routing as I am sure you are now aware.

Your options are relatively limited - although non refundable you might be able to persuade Scoot to arrange a change to a different Scoot flight but it depends upon terms and conditions or if you can persuade an agent to waive the restrictions for goodwill. If its not in the T&Cs as an option, then its really up to them so you are asking a favour and should approach the conversation that way. This may mean travelling out of HK early and you have to balance whether loss of time in HK is worth the loss of what is probably the more expensive BA leg of the ticket

The next option stems from that idea and depends upon the conditions of the BA flight ticket. It might be changeable probably with a fee and so you could get a later flight out of Changi.

A third option is a new ticket entirely to suit but thats the most expensive last ditch option for if the other changing optinos dont work or end up too expensive - and your best best is another LCC that flies HK to Sin at the right time becaae thats probably the cheapest replacement.

Given the flight on is BA, I assume that London is not the destination you are heading to as you would have several hours before thise flights leave...so where are you flying onto as that might help with options if you have to ditch a ticket

They are probably going to be the same, certainly on these sorts of issues. The two companies were always owned by the same entity and IIRC actually got merged leglly a while ago with the merging of branding being more recent. So the streamlining of T&Cs would have happened pretty early on plus the two lines operated on the same business model anyway lowering the chance of a significant difference.

You might try and dig them out in case it makes a difference but expect the airline to throw the 'right to change T&Cs' clause, which undoubtedly exists for this sort of thing, at you.

I will also re-echo Singlouissas question as to which onward flight were you on, as some fo the codeshares involved may mean that leg is the easier fix, especially if leaving Hong Kong early isnt going to be possible due to work committments or similar.

As they have advised and it is 3 hrs 55 difference I can't see what they can do

It looks like cancelation of the 0700 flight and they have moved you to the 1055 flight

I don't think you will get anywhere chasing T&C for such a change so far in advance

I think doing a flight change to previous evening could be the easiest

There are no other LCC flights showing ( at the moment so don't know about in Dec ) between HKG and SIN in the morning

Looking at the schedules departures HKG - SIN 'prior' to 1055 are just 2 /or 3 on CX and 2 on SQ , so it's not like there is some low cost alternative

I looked on the Changi website to see about 'BA' flights and it showed flight in the evening , nothing during the day
