Checked bag - 1 champagne bottle

I would like to pack 1 bottle of champagne in my checked bag.

I don't worry about it breaking, I'll take care of that.

I worry about the temperature it will be for almost 16 hours from the time I pack

until the time it reaches my fridge back home... which will be about room temperature,

will it's flavor be affected by not being kept under refrigeration for so long?

Thanks.

No. Especially as it is unopened.

I don't know about stores in San Antonio, but most stores I've seen keep the majority of their sparkling wine and champagne stored right on a shelf.

But a bottle of champagne ( if it is expensive) be tempting for any unscrupulous airport worker. And I really do not think that Champagne (which only comes from France) is shipped all over the world in refrigerated containers.

Wine, Champagne included) is most susceptible to rapid temp changes, and then vibrations. Think about that for a moment.

For packing wine, in checked luggage, I have had good results with a product called WineSkins.

However, I use those to bring BACK wine, and place in my cellar, to "relaxe."

Good luck,

Hunt

You should not keep good vintage champagne refrigerated in the first place. It should only be chilled before consumption and stored in a dark place at a constant temperature around 50F. That is why manufacturers love storing wine in caves.
