Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

How to ruin a beautiful beach cafe Shockingly dirty toilets - surprised this cafe is allowed to operate. You usually rate a food/beverage venue on the condition of the facilities, not just on the food or drink consumed. Coffee was acceptable, but having visited the...toilets, I wish I hadn’t bothered.More

Wow how disappointing. I called for a coffee before going to the beach in anticipation of coming back for lunch later. But I won’t be returning. I walked up to the counter on arrival and waited for the young lady to speak to me. Which...she just didn’t - she needs training. My coffee was fine but in a disposable cup when I was sitting in. No glass of water available just a plastic bottle at over 2 euros. The gents obviously hadn’t been cleaned that morning and were disgusting. I’m sorry but this place needs sorting out!More

10 people booked in for meal. 5 ordered steak which cost 30 euro each (you would expect a great steak for 30 euro). Every steak was under cooked. My sides arrived after I had eaten most of my meal. Was it worth 30 euro or...would I eat there again - no. They gave us a free drink when the saw the nearly raw meat on all our plates. Never again!More

Visited here today with large group. Due to large group we were seated in outdoor covered area. It was windy. Counter staff would only serve takeaway to this seated area. We bought 2 desserts €5 each, cappuccino at €3.95, Americano €3.75 for a takeaway is...more expensive than a coffee in Dublin, ridiculous prices for coffee. Desserts were put in cardboard containers. 2 steps outside to outdoor seated area and the wind made sure desserts hit the floor. I was back inside to get replacement desserts another €10. Young staff uninterested and sullen, service slow, inside tables dirty, outside tables wet and sandy (well it’s on the beach). I cannot comprehend where these prices are coming from..as a Wicklow native I was shocked. Feel sorry for anyone holidaying here, between taxi prices and “hospitality” left a lot to be desired. If you are going to charge these prices at least do it with a smile and a lasting good impression!! In fairness desserts were tasty but would not return on principal. Come to the garden of Ireland (Wicklow) for better value, kindness and service with a smile!!!More

We have visited Sammy's several times and always enjoyed our visits, the first time was 2008 with my son & daughter and their partners at the time now both married. I have been back with my husband and this time with my children and their...children in all 11 of us. We had a very welcome stop here despite the wind and rain and enjoyed a quick walk on beach and then great coffee and cake in the cafe. My son Neil lost his wallet somewhere between the beach car park and cafe and we were very lucky that it had been handed by a member of the public when found a day later. We had contacted them on the day and thankfully it was handed in and they notified us of this. It is being posted as I write this. Love that it is on the beach and all the changes made in the intervening years are so good and all the staff are as friendly as ever. look forward to our next visit. Thank you Sammy's.More

We had no booking, just called into Sammys hoping we could get lucky, and get a table and food after a swim. Lucky for us we got the table even though the restaurant was closing. Had a delicious sea food platter to share, plenty for...2 people, salmon, oysters prawns all really tasty. The staff were super, service excellent as was the price. This is quality Irish food at its finest. Highly recommend Sammys and the team there! Thank youMore

The food in the restaurant was wonderful and the staff were friendly . We therefore had no complaints about the restaurant. Such a shame they close Monday and Tuesday. Not ideal in the height of the season in such an out of the way spot....We visited the cafe on Wednesday morning and there were no tables available inside. Only about twenty seats anyway. The outdoor tables under the awnings etc were not suitable to sit on as the staff had clearly not wiped them down and were wet and dirty. Such a huge over flow area totally under utilised. We did not order anything and went elsewhere. Our view was if staff could not be bothered to look after customers we could not be bothered to give them our custom. A real shame, but won’t bother visiting again.More
