Had the 3 course dinner menu here in April. The restaurant is really pretty and the views are beautiful! I felt that the food varied a little - starters were great, main course & dessert just ok. Waiter was welcoming and explained all well. We...had 3 kids with us and have to say that this restaurant doesn’t really work for kids. Overall, nice restaurant but I felt the the price/quality didn’t quite meet.More
Mushroom soup was excellent starter. Reindeer as main course was good but nothing special really. Dessert was okay. Overall with the price you'd expect much more, specially good flavors, however, only the soup and the Italian sparkling met that level in my opinion. Service, views...and atmosphere were very good though.More
We had three people and spend over 200€ for three course dinner. Mushroom soup was good but main course reindeer was huge disappointment. I almost returned the dish to kitchen. No taste at all. I was not happy at all. Desert was again ok. Nothing...fancy or excellent. Service was excellent but food was average or poor. We will never return to this place even we visit the area three four times a year.More
We enjoyed a very special dinner with the family in Aurora Estate. We took the 4 course menu, which was beautiful with very surprising dishes and tastes. Our only regret was not having taken the 5 course menu :-) Both the fish and the reindeer...meat was very well done and complimented with great wine. A great evening, a great meal and well worth a visitMore
Incredible dining experience. All 5 courses were excellent, but mushroom soup and reindeer main course were definetly to die for. The view to frozen lake ylläs was serene and it was magical when the post sunset blue light lit the scenery. Wines served with the...food were brillinat, and the whole experience was completed with excellent service. Definetly a place to visit if you would like to have a fine dinining experience with northern flavours.More
The Aurora restaurant is an absolute delight in every way. The food, hospitality and care are second to none. It is a very special little place set on the edge of a beautiful lake, where you can even have a private dinner served to you...by the fire in the sauna house. Nikklas, the chef, is hugely talented and the waiters and waitresses are friendly and gracious. We were lucky enough to stay for a whole week and loved every meal we had. Thank you to everyone at Aurora Estate for a truly wonderful hote and dining experience!More
The best option for fine dining in Ylläs area. Although there isn't much competition Aurora estate and Arctic skylight lodge are it right now (the restaurant at skylight lodge is exellent aswell). We had the whole digestation meny with the wines and each course was...really tasty. Specially the kingcrab soup was to die for. Service was really nice and the dining space and views from the windows were absolutely beautifull. Will definately go again the next time we are in the area.More
Aurora Estate was a lovely experience from service to the dinner menu. According to locals, this barn-like building is also located in an area known for catching the northern lights on lucky nights. You can feel the intimate, well-done woodsy homey vibes from the moment...you step in. A family had a dog under the table that looked comfortable as if he’s been here many times before. The ambiance is relaxing yet a little formal. Service was not overbearing yet very attentive. We chose the chef’s three-course tasting menu. The starter was a creamy King crab soup with fermented fennel and dill oil. Next, a reindeer filet with an espresso mushroom sauce and a side of beetroot and turnips made for great surf and turf line up. A Ligonberry foam with white chocolate and berry meringue was the perfect sweet to end the night for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant and making reservations in advance. It was a perfect way to end the day of snow-shoeing!More
This restaurant was a box I had wanted to tick of my list for quite a while. I must say I was a really disappointed. Food was good, but not really, really good. I had the king crab as the starter. The taste and texture...was fantastic, but the size was more like an appetiser. Two bites and gone. Maybe a 2cm piece of crab and lots of sauce, like a soup but to eat with a fork. As main I had reindeer. Very good meat, probably the best Reindeer I’ve had. But nothing on the side to go with it. Two types of fluffy sauces that did nothing. No taste nor did they fill the stomach. I had some kind of pie for dessert and I would rather have spent that money on something else. The most disappointing thing was the service. Nobody introduced the menu or told us anything about the food not while ordering and not even when served. It just was brought in front of us without even saying enjoy your meal. Not a word. I’ve visited hundreds of fine dining restaurants all over the world. This was in the bottom 10%. Over 200€ for three people and we all left hungry and disappointed. We had booked a table for later this same week but cancelled the reservation as soon as we got home.More
I have been travelling at Ylläs for years. This is definitely the best restaurant around, founded by a Master Chef Finland winner. Especially the reindeer filet was great, among the best I have eaten. If you are a vegetarian, might be a good idea to...call beforehand and ask for something special...More
Seriously this was probably one of the top meals in my life. The King Crab Risotto was legendary and the Reindeer Tartar was so rich and delicious. Service was fantastic, setting was lovely, absolutely no fault to be be found. Well worth the money, well...worth the night out. We will definitely be stopping here again the next time we drive up North.More
Combine fine dining and local ingredients, a perfect balance between hearty and finesse, paired with excellent wine, and a very, very professional yet personal service! You won't find any better!
Special building and decorating, good and helpful staff. Salted salmon as a starter, wild duck and apple pie were delicious, made of fresh ingredients and beautiful. Highly recommend to visit
We were lucky enough to eat at the wonderful Aurora Estate during our trip to Ylläs this year. They kindly arranged for a taxi to pick us up from our hotel. He then waited until we had finished our meal for the return journey. What...a star. The location of Aurora is stunning. Heidi dedicated her time to us during the meal. Heidi kindly answered all of our questions and explained each of the ingredients in the dishes we chose. Her knowledge and care was fantastic. The menu is limited but perfectly varied. Each dish was sublime. Perfectly presented and delicious. We tried all the dishes and have to say each was perfect. Cooked to perfection. Totally delicious. Thank you for a wonderful evening. It was a real treat to enjoy Finnish food to such a high standard. A must for anyone who is visiting Yllas.More
