Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to Flanagans Gastro pub based on previous reviews. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We were encouraged to have the special which was lamb cutlets, sautéed potatoes and seasonal veg. Two of us had the special and one ordered fish and chips. The...lamb cutlets were as tough as leather and overcooked, the potatoes and veg were also overcooked and I couldn’t help but think it was left overs for the lunch menu. The food was massively over seasoned and very unpleasant to eat. Additionally, the fish was overcooked. For the above reason we did not have a dessert and would not recommend it as a place to eat.More

We've recently moved to the area and have been trying out a few places to become our new favourite place to eat. I think we've found it. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated quickly. I started with Goat's Cheese and Black Pudding which...was superb. Creamy cheese, peppery pudding and some nicely spicy chorizo, perfect! For my main, I went for the steak. I asked for rare, very rare. This was checked again as our starter plates were being cleared and I confirmed I would like it 'Blue'. I was not disappointed. The fat on the steak was perfectly rendered and crispy while the meat was as rare as I'd asked for. The flavour was exceptional. The chips were excellent, crisp outside, fluffy inside but not dry. You can tell the chef cares about the produce and this is reflected on the plate. All this was washed down with a gorgeous pint of Sheep Stealer. We will definitely return and hopefully, work our way through the menu and the specials.... But that steak.. Wow!More

We visited this establishment today and one meal was very good. However I ordered chicken curry and asked for half chips and half rice. The waitress informed us that they didn’t do that and I would have to buy portion of chips if I wanted...them. After waiting some time for our meal, my portion of rice curry and nan bread was very small. When I told the waitress she shrugged her shoulders and said sorry but never took anything off our bill. Overpriced for what I got. We found our waitress unfriendly with an attitude. Did not enjoy the experience.More

This roadside gastropub (and restaurant) is located at the side of the road near Brickens (County Mayo), about five minutes off the N17 that runs between Sligo and Galway. It provided a very welcome break on the journey – it has excellent parking and outside...tables. There’s a long bar along the back wall and the specials were written on a blackboard in addition to the traditional menu with a choice of steaks, roasts, chicken and fish and chips – it was emphasised that much of the food, including the brown bread, had been locally sourced – bravo!. There was excellent wheelchair accessibility and free Wifi. Due to the inclement weather we didn’t get to enjoy the beer garden and outdoor area, apart from the really fresh air of of this region, which is also feee of course!More

We stopped off here on our way to Achill and thoroughly enjoyed our food. I rang ahead and they offered to book a table for us. We were met at the door by the friendly staff (all adhering to Covid recommendations). We sat outside in...the sun and had 4 delicious meals. I had the duck which was delicious and my husband said the burger was one of the best he has had. The kids had fish and chips and pasta and the plates were practically licked clean. The toilets were also spotless and hand sanitiser was available in a variety of locations. All in all a very enjoyable experience. I would highly recommendMore

Village pub serving high quality food at reasonable prices. After more than 3 months of COVID lockdown, we were yearning for a good meal out, and this fit the bill nicely. We had caesar salad and goat's cheese tartlet for starters and pan fried hake...and confit of barbary duck leg for mains. All excellent. The service was friendly and professional.More

On our way home from Roscommon, Me and my partner visited this establishment as we heard great reviews about it, but after our visit I cannot comprehend why. Staff were nice, but slow. Food was not good at all. It was like it was thrown...in a pan and the full contents was emptied onto the plate, EXTREMELY EXTREMELY OVERPRICED! It seems these online reviews circulating online of this premises went to the owners head, hence rising the price of food. There’s no point going to a place and being expected to pay an arm, a leg and a member for terrible food. Daylight robbery.More

Flanagans has always provides good food-the usual range of pub grub that you can find anywhere but it is good quality-why the gastro thing then?? There is nothing apart from a strange desire to serve tapas that would make it gastro. It is a good...place to come for good food that is basic and does what it says on the tin!More

Stopped off in Flanagans for an early dinner. Spotlessly clean bar/restaurant, friendly staff and excellent food. Beef/Cajun Chicken burgers were fabulous. Nice music memorabilia on the walls and a fantastic playlist of soft-ish rock music made for a really enjoyable visit. As close to a...Hard Rock Cafe as you will find in Mayo! Will definitely be back.More

I was one in a party of 7 people who were visiting the area as part of an AGM in a nearby hotel. Two of our group were quite elderly. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by a very polite and cheery hostess,...our experiences were nothing but positive, We were shown to our table (reserved) and each handed a menu. The menu was not extensive, but had a good variety and reasonably priced. When the waitress came, she was so professional, cheery, helpful and took great care of us all, and especially the elderly couple with us. The steaks were great and cooked as requested, and plenty of them. The seafood chowder was absolutely wonderful. Everyone raved about their choice. There were only two small points that if improved could make a difference - The parking area needs to be paved, as our elderly guests were fearful of falling understandably. Some extra lighting might also be helpful. But at the end of the day, would I recommend it - without a hesitation. I think the servers name was Lauren? Go there, you won't regret it!More

Visited Flanagan's this evening and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We had Goat's cheese which was a step above the rest with the blended red onion and unbelievable seasoning, steak sandwich cooked perfectly, the portabello mushroom was beautiful and we will definitely be...back for the chilli fries :)More
