Four close family members dined at The Olive Tree to celebrate an anniversary. The service food and attention to detail were exactly as this family have been providing for decades. I remember going here over thirty heres ago and am just as impressed today as then. We shared a platter of seafood to start (oysters, prawnsscallops and calamari with two... More

Tucked away in Park Street, The Olive Tree takes you back in time to with its 1970's decor (the sign out the front hasn't been updated to reflect the "9" that was added to phone numbers back in the 1990's!) The Menu is a little old fashioned but the quality and variety of food is anything but. Crisp, light calamari;... More

the olive tree has been there so long, that it tend to be overlooked as a place open for lunch...it is like taking a trip back to the seventies, but there is nothing wrong with that,as in the seventies,it was a first class restaurant ! now, it is more a classic restaurant, very well priced, serving good size meals with consistency, but the furniture... We shared a dozen mixed oysters! A BYO bottle of Vas Felix! My partner partook of an entree serve of spinach and ricotta cannelloni with bolognese sauce. I accepted the suggestion of waiter and ate the venison coletta accompanied by perfect 'al dente vegetables'. What followed was an affogato for each of us! Which completed a great dining experience. Love... More

I had noticed this restaurant since the 1970s but have only just had an excuse to try it out. What have I been missing out on!!! It was quiet for our chat with our financial planner and the staff were excellently attentive without intruding. The Menu was innovative and well priced. We had Venison steaks coated in Parmesan and Almond... More

I visited the Olive Tree on Friday November 18 2016. The venison I had was absolutely magnificent, accompanied by the rosti and beetroot and apple chutney. The service was excellent along with the great selection of red wine. Overall, fantastic restaurant

My mates and I stayed in the Quest above the olive tree and we ordered out one night. The food was actually amazing even giving the fact it was takeaway. Generous portion sizes with nice vegetables to boot. We all enjoyed the various meals we ordered. I can only imagine how nice the food would be if we had dined... More

We have always enjoyed this splendid Melbourne restaurant - this visit was up to the standard of our previous visits. Most enjoyable Calamari, very good Veal Parmigiana and very acceptable Barramundi, with adequate portion control. Great range of cocktails and wine list. Service was splendid and the cost was generally in line with similar standard restaurants. Will be happy to... More

We chose this restaurant to meet with our friends to celebrate Christmas. The service is excellent, the waiter knew who ordered what which meant that our non stop conversation was not interrupted when our dinner was serviced, This is what I remember of good old fashioned service. The food was excellent, very big serves which the men really appreciated. All... More

We not much has changed in the decor since I been comming here which started 35 years ago, but thats ok , because it is still the best steak or close best (there is one in Port Melb which I some times sneak to) . I have gotten older with the decor , but I still walk out every time... More
