The pub looks lovely from the outside and we stopped for lunch after a long walk. The place was practically empty which wasn't encouraging. Staff were mediocre and food was not good. Starters were ok and decent portions but mains were awful. Steak and ale pie was watery with greasy chips and burger was thin and so processed it made... More

The steak and ale pie was very good, amazing how much meat that they can fit into one pie. I asked if they could do me a salad as there wasn't one on the menu and the pleasant and very helpful staff arranged a cheese salad for me, which had a great variety of cheeses, it was more like a... More

Nice pub but no atmosphere. Nice in the garden in the summer, but inside its a little boring. Good beer, didn't try the food

We visited on Monday evening for dinner. The Travellers Rest is a very large pub with great potential. Unfortunately when we were there, there were very few other guests. With a lot of empty tables, sparse furnishings and bright lighting it felt a bit soulless and empty. It felt more like a youth club than a pub. The menu was... More

Having been to The Travellers Rest before, I had good memories of quality pub food. I even remember it being good enough to go back again in the same holiday. Being back in the area, I stopped in on a Thursday night for dinner. I really wished we hadn't. There were two staff on duty, one behind the bar and... More

We visited this pub on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. The sunday lunch was excellent value. The staff were very helpful with sorting us out with my 14 month old with food at no extra charge as he wouldn't be able to eat a kids meal. Great value for money and recommend visiting.

There were about 50 of us for lunch, orders taken very efficiently and delivered quickly. Burger was a little disappointing with a processed cheese slice, a bit of lettuce and 2 slices of tomato although steak pie and Sunday roast dinner looked great

Was going to order pudding I asked would it be hot the bar staff said if your not sure about it don't order it not the right answer. You expect it too come hot... More

I visited with my wife yesterday as she likes to visit on our anniversary. The young lady who served us was excellent. She was incredibly polite and courteous and attentive without being obvious. She was even quick to spot that I left my phone behind as we left and returned it quickly. The food was good. The portion sizes were... More
