Just had a take away from here. We took the garlic bread back straight away. It was disgusting. Over cooked , rock hard and tasted awful. They changed and gave us back £5 apologising. We ordered pizza, calzone, ribs and cabonara. All of it was awful. Calzone was thick pastry , dry had spaghetti in it. Have eaten in a... More

This local restaurant that has served its visitors for years- seemed as if it was fulfilling its role but the joy, passion, ambience was missing from the whole experience. Food was OK - lacks the Italian freshness & flavours.....

Bare with me for this review but my wife and I last visited this place a few years ago. Last time we weren't sure about the whole experience be it the food or the service. So tonight we decided to give the place another go, if only alcohol hadn't influenced our decision! We ordered starters followed by the usual main... More

Been to this place twice for business lunches. Really good old school Italian bistro - proper pasta and great service. An authentic Italian that has clearly been doing this for years. Well worth a visit!

I take issue with the “terrible” review Feb 2017. I’m surprised to see anyone write about a desperately bad meal and slow service at Al Fresco, sounds like trolling to me, and if a group of 9 are “constantly” ordering drinks, I would prefer not to be sitting anywhere near! Al Fresco is not a fast food outlet, it is... More

Tried this restaurant again after a 20 year gap to see if it had improved since my last visit, alas it hadn't. Restaurant was only half full (21 diners including our party of 9). Service exceptionally slow with food order taken 35-40 minutes after we sat down. Starters arrived after a further considerable amount of time. I ordered a selection... More

Management response:

Al Fresco is a small restaurant with seating downstairs for 30 and a further 20 upstairs. 8pm on a Saturday night can be busy. All meals are individually cooked and prepared at the time of ordering and our policy is that "we do not serve fast food but good food as fast as we can". As a good will gesture... More

We have eaten at Al Fresco on a few occasions recently, never been disappointed. We ate again on Sunday evening, we had not booked and although the restaurant was very busy, we were able to find a table. My partner had King Prawns from the specials board, he said they were the best he had ever eaten. I choose pasta,... More

We were the only table in the restaurant-passed by at lunchtime, thought the lunch special looked good - any pizza or pasta with wine for £7.50 each. Thought we would also purchase soft drinks before ordering the main - (one calzone and one pizza) the calzone arrived (cold in the middle) and a chicken pasta dish (bit different to my ordered...
