The Currach is at the heart of Tryphena and is the place to go on the island for a night out. They have legendary open mike nights on a Thursday, which draw a crowd, and a good line up of music a few times a month. There are four beers and a cider on tap, a good selection of drinks,... More

Was there for my birthday over Anniversary Weekend. The atmosphere very friendly, service and food was excellent. It was very handy from where we stayed at Trillium Lodge. Great surrounds and history.

We stayed at the Innkeepers lodge for three nights and had an absolutely fantastic stay. Our room was very comfortable and had a lovely deck looking over the (very lush) garden where we sat and had drinks in the evenings. Maura, one of the lovely owners, showed us the premium rooms and they are even nicer - we will be... More

We came here early (about 615) on a Saturday after hearing good things. The tables were all reserved so they told us to find a table with a reservation starting after 8. In the end the best we could find was for 730. We then ordered and were told they would find us yet another table in case our meals... More

We dined here on at least 3 occasions while visiting the Barrier. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The staff are great. The food is excellent. A great place to take kids as they can disappear to the lawn below the deck and make as much trouble as they like without upsetting other patrons (or their parents!)

We went for lunch recently . Very generous glasses of wine , lovely platter ( best lunch platter we've ever had) and our son enjoyed his huge burger. So peaceful in the lovely rural setting with laid back music in the background . If you go to Tryphena on the Barrier would highly recommend the Currach.

The Currach is a delightful place, filled with Irish warmth and humor. The food is excellent, the wines are good, and our hosts were cheerful, welcoming, and helpful. It's no wonder that the pub is frequented by locals and tourists alike. The Innkeeper's lodge is a great place to stay with comfortable beds. Don't be surprised to see and hear... More

We spent 3 nights at the Innkeeper's Lodge in mid January and had a fabulous time. Each night we ate at the Curragh, and each night we marvelled at how well the young crew did with the challenges creating delicious, varied dishes on a remote island (no dashing to the local market for that one missing ingredient). Even more so... More

Had two lovely dining experiences over Xmas. Reserved a place on boxing day just in case it was crowded which it was. No apparent delay in receiving our steak meals which were cooked to prefection and the nachos were fantastic

We are always amazed at the friendly staff, regardless if they are new or regular. They welcome us with open arms, and give you the time of day with a quick story or a question about your day. It has become a regular haunt of ours as we have found out that every hour is happy hour at The Currach!
