This restaurant looked great from all angles and had good reviews but it just didn’t live up to our expectations. The service was surly and inattentive while the food was average - the compulsory addition of a few bits of white bread which add €4.50...to the bill is something I’d have expected in lesser places. It was overpriced and distinctly average especially when compared to some of its immediate competitors.More

Enjoyed local fish and seafood in a fancy environment looking at the sea, astonishing views. Great wine cellar with good local references

My husband has eaten here before so despite the average reviews we decided to eat at Restaurant La Vieja. Unfortunately we should have taken notice of the reviews on TA and given it a miss. The food is just OK, some better than others. My...son ordered the grilled tuna which was so tough he could only eat a small portion of it, and my daughter ordered the lobster pasta in which the lobster was overcooked and floury. My husband and I ordered the grilled Turbot, which needed to be cooked a bit longer in order for the fish to come away easily from the bone. Mine was supposed to be grilled, but there were no char marks or anything to suggest that it had been grilled, and in fact the skin was quite soft and slippery. Not very appealing. The starters were the best part of the meal and even with them we have had better. And yes it is very expensive. We have learnt our lesson !!!More

Pleasant enough restaurant in La Caleta. Good setting and atmosphere with a fabulous lady singer. We had sea bream in salt and Canarian potatoes for 3 which was lovely but expensive if you compare to other equally good restaurants in the area. Service seemed to...be focused on local movers and shakers so our service was slow! We would go back though.More

Somewhat disappointing.. This is an expensive restaurant so to justify those prices both the food and service should match. Unfortunately that just wasn’t the case. Even though we weren’t in any rush we still had to chase up various items ordered. Food was nice but...didn’t justify the price..More

Reccomended by our Hotel Riu Palace. Best restaurant for many years but expensive. Being from UK I could say 5 star t Rick Stein prices. Had Cigales for starter followed by a whole 1kg Sea Bass (Lubina) cooked in rock salt. Desserts also superb. The...biggest surprise was a very reasonably priced bottle of Canarian Rose at E25. If we returned to Tenerife we would have BB in hotel and eat at La Vieja every night.More

We came here in June and although the island suffers from lack of tourists, La Caleta doesn't seem to be affected. We were looking forward to coming here. The place was not packed but quite full. The food was pretty Ok, but as others have...mentioned, very expensive. The quality was Ok to good, but not amazing. What was a shame was the service . Twice we ordered food only to then be told a few mins later it was not available. Surely staff are told i advance ? Also you had to keep asking for service, which at these prices should not really be necessary. Probably would not go back.More

My dining experience at La Vieja reminded me of how difficult the restaurant business is. From an objective viewpoint the experience was of high quality, the location and setting spectacular, obviously a lot of thought had gone behind organizing the crew, and the food and...wine were excellent, especially the items that had been suggested by my waiter. The Maitre even handled perfectly a small problem we had (they wanted to move me from the very nice table they had originally made me sit at to a far less fortunate one), something that usually warrant a perfect score on my part. The problems (and the four points rating) were in the details. I love when wine and water are put out of my reach, but this means that the staff has to be obsessed about my glasses not being empty, and this didn’t happen as diligently as it should have. The masked world we live in (perfect Covid-19 safety compliance here, congratulations on that) would also require that the waiter in charge of my table had some way of giving me some references on who to ask for help to, something that I didn’t have given that everybody looked like being the same person. This made me feel lost at times. The ceviche and grilled fish (cherne, suggested by the waiter) I had were very good, the Canarian white I had was actually the best I have ever had from the region, but the way the calamari were fried was not great (as the fries I had with my main dish, which makes me think the problem is in the deep frying setup). The Crema Catalana I had was very good, too bad it was not the dessert I had ordered (I admit my fault in not asking for a change). Anyway, the experience was certainly positive, I just wish the restaurant was able to fit the expectations it has of itself. Not much is missing, but something certainly is.More

Foreigners won’t get a fair treatment, they believe they can give you the worst food at their price. Don’t order the lobster, it is atrocious. The fish (their specialty), dry and way overcooked. And if you only have 2 hours to have supper, forget it,...they rather serve other tables that seem richer. Go for the meat, will come perfectly cold but it is the best course there.More

The food is above average for Tenerife. However, this is an expensive restaurant, targeting wealthy Russians.
