Great lunchtime pit stop on a long walk. Fantastic views by the river with plenty of outside seating and parking for those who drive. Order everything at the bar with lovely friendly staff. Food was classic pub grub we chose ploughman’s and steak sandwich, well...prepared and very generous portions! Lovely relaxing spot would highly recommend.More

We visited here twice during a weekend away in the area; once just for a drink and once for food. Both visits were lovely abs peaceful, we had great weather so enjoyed the setting right next to the river. Great, reasonably priced food, friendly staff....Would visit again!More

Had a lovely fillet steak and melted cheese baguette today at lunchtime. Chips were fab too. Staff were really friendly and service was quick. Tables set out next to the river. Ordered food at the bar and it was brought to us outside. Great stop...off for our circular walk from Monsal.More

Sunday 13th December, we had the second Sunday roast beef take away since lock down. The generous amount of beef and of the vegetables presented had not changed; the flavour was wonderful. We will be back inside when our imprisonment ends! Definitely recommended.

Seriously, the last time we visited we were greeted by a friendly face who made our baby son beam. The place was vibrant and the food was superb. When we recently visited it was such a disappointment. Full of hope, we were shattered. The food...was terrible and the atmosphere was dull. No dogs to greet us and no bubbly person behind the bar. Will not visit again.More

I am sorry to see you have had to leave this terrible review. I don’t really understand what you are saying? We’ve never had dogs but dogs are always welcome as for our homemade treats on the bar. We are a friendly happy team who...More

We came cross this pub halfway round a walk, we popped in for a drink and liked the look of the evening menu so returned for our evening meal. There are two bars, one which is for walkers and dogs which is perfect and and...nicely furnished. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and the food we had was really good. A great pub with good food, great staff and a nice atmosphere. COVID procedures in place so we also felt very safe.More

We visited the Anglers Rest twice in a day. Firstly half way through a country walk for a well deserved drink. The staff were very welcoming and the service very prompt. The pub / restaurant is lovely, and we felt very comfortable. We had checked...out the menu and decided to return later for dinner. We were definitely not disappointed, my steak and ale pie was fantastic and you could easily tell that the accompanying veg was fresh and cooked just right. The rest of the party were equally happy with their meals of scampi and fillet of beef baguette. All in all a very tasty meal served by very nice staff in a very nice pub at very reasonably priceMore

Visited here Saturday 17th October as we were camping nearby and the campsite had recommended this place, and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious, all freshly home cooked and piping hot, the staff were really welcoming and friendly. The pub is just...off the monsal trail down a steep track, wear some sensible footwear if walking down to it though as it was a little bit slippy. We had spent our day walking along the trail so decided to try and get a taxi back to our campsite from the pub, the staff told us it might be quite difficult as not many taxis headed out there but luckily one of the ladies in the kitchen was heading back our way and actually gave us a lift back which we were extremely grateful for, what an amazing thing to do, this place is a real gem and when we are next in the Peak District would definitely return.More
