I can echo the good reviews - one caveat: excessive noise from the loudspeakers, although the landlady did turn it down on request. Piped music makes conversation more difficult for most people, especially those with hearing problems. In any case, is it not ill-mannered to force your customers to put up with music that they have not chosen, nor would... More

A bit lost on our walk, we stumbled across The Anglers, the weather was nice enough to sit out front by the river. Very pleasant welcome and staff, and very helpful with some directions. We had a simple lunch and drinks of sandwiches and a burger which was very well presented and very good value. We will return on our next... More

This place does exactly what it says on the tin. It's in beautiful countryside - with a capital 'B' - and being a stone's throw from the Monsal Trail and numerous other footpaths means it is something of a walker's mecca. Seemingly welcoming to locals, tourists and families alike, the menu was varied and food was of good quality -... More

We walked here from campsite about 3 1/2 miles away, very friendly welcome, no problem with boots or dog. Slight issues with food, I asked if the ploughman was meat or cheese, it was meat but said they could do me a cheese one, I went back to the table while the rest of us choose, but they had already... Stopped for lunch and pint while walking the Monsal Trail, food and beer both excellent. There is a boot friendly bar for walkers.

This is a welcoming pub which is on a bus route, on the Monsal Trail and has a car park so there is really no excuse for not trying it. The new owners seem to have turned the pub around as the recent good reviews show. It is a pity that the old negative reviews still affect the rating but... More

This pub is ideally placed for refreshing walkers and cyclists in the dale and very well set up with picnic tables outside and boot covers if going inside. There is limited parking in the dale. There is a walkers bar, a general bar and a restaurant room with the feel of a Victorian front parlour. The staff are friendly and... More

Great lunch and lovely pint. No complaints about muddy boots and super friendly staff. Stunning location too, off the Monsal Trail.

Decided to try the Anglers for a birthday celebration and had a lovely meal. Warm and welcoming with a good and varied menu. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff could not fault anything. Will definitely be going back and highly recommended to anyone thinking of visiting.
