We arrived at 5.10 and got told I can't get anything to eat until 5.30 so we had a drink and waited and waited, 5.50 I went to the bar and asked when we could get seated to be told all the tables are reserved! If I knew that I wouldn't of waited, dinner was nice although it wasn't a... More

We stayed at the Ship Inn and had reserved a table, which was good as it was quite busy for a while. We brought guest ales from the pub and settled down for a long meal of very nice seafood and good wine. A full moon lighted the harbour and a gale whistled through the cracks in the window frame.... My husband and I stayed at the Ships Inn for one night, we chose to make reservations at the Captains Table which is connected to their pub. Service was good, decor was homey and the food was truly great. I had Haddock and Chips, and I've had my share of good and bad fish and chips- this was really the... More

We popped for a quick Saturday lunch. The restaurant is interestingly located by the harbour in Stonehaven. The menu was varied, but being in this old fishing town why on earth would you opt for anything except something that came out of the sea! Our party opted for the haddock, two battered and two done in breadcrumbs. They were truly... More

It has been a few months since I have been for a meal, however went in on Friday night and got a table in the restaurant which is surprising for a Friday. The food was again first class I had the tomato and king prawn starter which was very tasty and the cod stew for my main which was also... More

I had a very disappointing dinner at the Ship Inn last Saturday. My party ordered "Surf and Turf" cooked rare at £26.45 each and for that price we were expecting something special. The steaks were all cooked medium to well done and very far from the rare that we had requested. The meal was presented very poorly on a small... More

We had a meal on a Saturday night. The waitress, a bigger girl with brown hair, pointed us to the table without bothering to show us to our seats. We ordered the special which was the prawn cocktail and it was truly awful! Tiny store bought prawns in a bit of lettuce for £6! I was too presumptuous and thought... More

I've eaten here a few times over the last few months, both as a professional tourist guide with a group and socially with my husband. I'm always spoilt for choice and I'm never disappointed. I still remember a delicious sauce served with pork, months after that particular meal!

Quite dark and a bit dingy inside the main bar. Smelled a bit like a school home economics classroom cupboard and interior more like a 1980s social club, with small dark wood tables. The menu wasn't what I expected as wasn't all 'pub grub'. It could have benefitted from a lunch menu as the dishes were a bit heavy and... More

We had an excellent meal! Best fish and chips ever! The dessert, coffee cheesecake, was awesome! Highly recommend!
