We are Italian foodies and this hidden gem is one of the best Italian restaurants we have ever been to in the DR and probably outside of Italy in general. We ate there twice in a row - for dinner one night and the next day for lunch. Manuela, the friendly owner, welcomed us and served us the most delicious... More

During our three day visit to Las Galeras, an out of the way, charming small village at the ultimate end of the Samana Peninsula, my wife and I, and two friends asked the friendly proprietor of a small lunch place where to have dinner that night. Without hesitation, she recommended IL PIRATA. Along with the recommendation came some vague directions... More

First: The pin drop on the map will get you on the right street but you must keep going another 1-2 kms until the road leads straight into a dirt driveway... A sign with a Johnny Depp pirate logo will be on the left side of the dirt driveway.... We were apprehensive as the road lead to a darkened dirt... More

So, you are literally eating on the back porch of a house, but trust me, you will not regret it. The food here is quite exceptional and well worth the trip. I highly recommend the gnocchi--easily the best I've had in many years.

I loved it here...the setting at sunset, a glass of white wine in my hand as cows wandered by in the meadow, freshly made pasta with lobster, absolutely heavenly homemade coconut ice cream.

Best known for homemade everything from pasta, sauces, bread, to gelato and limoncello. You won't forget the quiet setting reminding you of the Italian countryside. We loved this place so much we returned twice. Our chef, Manuela, from Torlene, quickly became like your Italian mama attending to any request. Don't miss this Jewell in the heart of the countryside!

Wonderful little Italian Restaurant here in Las Galeras! The price was pretty good but the taste is great. The owner was very accommodating in that we did not have a reservation yet she was willing to take our 9 person group. The gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce was superb, but the Rum Raisin Gelato was to die for. I highly recommend... More

You're going to eat dinner at someone's home that is also a restaurant. We loved it so much we went back 2 nights in a row. The gnocchi - to die for. The tiramisu, not to be missed. The tortellini - amazing. Homemade pasta with attentive service in a fascinating setting - make sure to have dinner here one night.

Homemade pasta, homemade icecream and Piemontian desserts to die for. Delicate raw fish carpaccio. Manuela runs a tight ship - everything works like clockwork; all food made with skill, experience and to highest Italian standards. Ahh and those rum drinks. Nice walk there. Go visit nearby Playita Beach afterwards.

On the suggestions of many locals who said this is one of the best restaurants in Las Galeras, we made a reservation for dinner here. It's necessary to take a taxi, as the location is outside of town on a rough, country road. But the trip is worth it. Up on a hill, the environment is cool and comfortable. The... More
