Excellent battered haddock and chips. The fish was beautifully cooked and absolutely fresh. The chips were homemade and very tasty. The portion of fish was very large - 2 whole fillets. It was almost too much fish. It would nice if they would offer the option of a small (one fish fillet) or large (two fillets). I think this could cut down in food waste and also make eating there more affordable for families. Nonetheless, we were very satisfied with our visit.

I read about this place before we left South Africa to visit Ireland and after our Saltee island trip we popped in for lunch We had to try the infamous fish and chips. If I remember correctly it was around 16 euros which according to local family is average prices. The portions were bigger than expected and we got 2 pieces of fish each and chips . Ended up being lunch and supper so we could have shared 1 between 2 of us , good value and quite tasty. Not drowned in oil. There is an outside and inside dining area. Order inside and collect at another point after exiting the restaurant which seemed a bit odd Overall worth a visit

Rated best fish and chips ever eaten by my companion. Didn't mind the 15 minute wait for fresh cod and breaded monk fish, served with large portion of chips and homemade tartare sauce. Plenty of menu choices, both food and drinks. Eat in cafe or dine outside if sunny or you have furry family members.

My previous review of this fish & chipper in Kilmore Quay was some years ago, when it rated in the top 10 chippers in Ireland. How I miss those days now - please come back from your winter break Michelle as your business is slowly failing in both quality and the availability of fish and even the chips. This was our Friday "go-to" place but will only return when the owner does and the food quality improves. No Plaice available on a Friday at 6.40pm, both Haddock znd Lemon Sole were very dry and dumped unfinished after first telling the staff. Kilmore Quay is slowly getting like a ghost town, though we note the Silver Fox has reopened as "Grounds", a tapas style venue, a welcome addition as both The Wooden House and Coast appear to be closed.

We always traveled from Gorey to kilmore a few times a year for a walk and get takeaway from the saltee chipper. Not anymore, ridiculously expensive. We’ve been getting the same food for years but our total seemed to go up by around €25 yesterday. Not worth it, it’s nice but not great anymore. Quality has decreased while prices have increased. Will be.eating in a nice little pub in the area from now on.

Having recently visited the Saltee’s Chipper I was shocked by what I was charged for a bag of chips, a battered fish, a small tartare sauce and a small bottle of 7up which came to €20.05 . Yes. I was charged the 5p. To me this is a total ripoff and an indicator of greed. I would love to know what their profit margin was. I’m all for a business making a profit but there is a limit. Yes. The food was good but it was no way worth what was being charged.

I used to love the Saltee Chipper. Warm friendly atmosphere, staff you got to know and laugh with, comfortable surroundings and piping hot fish and chips. All that has gone now. Order at one counter and pick up your meal, wrapped in paper with plastic forks, and then sit in a fairly soulless room or your car to eat your food. You'll have paid the same in a comfortable local hotel in Wexford. The fish is still generally good, but the experience is a far cry from what it was. Last night the chips were a bit soggy and the eating room was cold... why did I want to drive for over half an hour in the dark and rain for that? I shan't do it again.

The food was absolutely beautiful, we had haddock, battered prawns, chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce. It was all delicious Staff v friendly, service very quick and lovely room to eat in. The price is a tad expensive but worth it for the quality, we were full for the day, we are Dubs and this chipper beats any place in Dublin for fish and chips, Howth restaurants should be ashamed

I went there with a friend and we waited 45 minutes for our food and the portion size was extremely small on his gravy chips for we he paid for it. The bacon in my garlic cheese bacon chip was burned beyond a crisp. I message the chipper directly on social media explaining this to them and I got no response. . I was too tired to go back in to them with it and the place was also dur to close so I dumped it in the bin. I've gone here before over the years and I was extremely disappointed at the poor quality of food ..

Me and my family ate here last week, more so through lack of other options in kilmore quay in the winter, however it turned out to be exactly what we needed. There's a large indoor seating area which was ideal on our day of visiting as it was freezing outside. They have a huge menu to choose from and also offer specials on the day too. I had some kilmore monkfish bites which were really good, although a little pricey for the portion at just under €12 and that wasn't with chips either. The portion sizes are a bit smaller than other chip shops we've used in Wexford but you always expect to pay more and get less when you're right on the coast. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals too. The curry sauce was amazing in here and actually had a bit of a spicy kick to it too.

Having visited Saltee Chipper on recommendations that its the best Fish and Chip shop my Mother and Wife had ever had, my self and my father visited it on Wednesday evening for the first. First impressions where good then i daw the prices 2 fish suppers and 2 bottles of Coke €28 I paid it because i thought it would be worth it. How wrong i was. Haddock was large, dried out, burnt in places, extremely greasy, skin on. Chips where nice but thats it. If i could score out of 10 it would be a 3 for chips and the coke. Very disappointed and wont be back. Once bitten twice shy

No visit to this part of Wexford would be complete without a visit to Saltees for the freshest fish on the planet. Love the traditional vibe, the paper wrapping, the fact they take your order on paper and phone when its ready..and the day we were there a busker was playing by the harbour....HEAVEN!

Visited last Sunday lunchtime for fish and chips, and was not disappointed. As a local now living in another county, I can tell you that you'd have to go a long way to find a better chipper. We were given diet busting portions - the only problem was that we ate way too much as the food was far too nice to leave behind! You expect waiting times at this time of the year, but the handy system whereby you get a phone call when your order is ready means that you can have a stroll around the village while you wait. Would definitely highly recommend!

Really enjoyed my monkfish goujons with homemade tartar sauce and homemade coleslaw with chips. The goujons were fresh and tender and the breadcrumb was light and well seasoned . Kids had scampi which were lovely also . Couldn’t fault the meal or experience. Restaurant menu looks lovely but it was closed on our trip . We were able to order from the chipper side and eat inside the restaurant , They had a counter on the restaurant side and they call your name when your order is ready . Well organised .

We came for dinner restaurant not open but you could order your takeaway in Chipper and eat in restaurant. It cost over 80 euros for our order which is shocking for a takeaway. We had a burger and chips, 2 cod goujons and chips, and a haddock and chips. We also got 3 drinks. We went back up for ketchup each pot 1 euro each. A bag of chips was 3.60 which is restaurant prices. I have no issue with the food but it was insulting to have to pay such a large amount of money when all we got were fish n chips wrapped in paper for 80 euro. If they want to charge restaurant prices run it like a restaurant not a Chipper.
