If you want to have an experience of old pulp&paper mill feeling, you must go to Kymin Huvila lunch restaurant which is an earlier guest house of UPM Kymmene Ltd. Food is excellent and service top quality! I really recommend!
Kymin Huvila is located a little bit out of Kouvola, in a nice wooden building. At lunch time, the buffet proposed is nice: soup, salads, two types of main courses (when I was there, one was meat based and the other one veggie).
The food...is tasty. Water, coffee and tea are included.More
Visiting first time this beautiful old villa (built 1873) in Kouvola. The whole visit was a positive surprise. The homemade buffet lunch was delicioius. Tasty soup, fresh salads, number of main dishes. Homemade bread. Also coffee and dessert. All that only ten euros! Personnel was...very kind, really beautiful environment. We do recommend this restaurant!More
I've been to this architectural pearl only once with my family, enjoying the 2016 Christmas Buffet. As vegetarian, I wasn't so excited about their Christmas buffet in terms of Finnish Christmas time dishes (which I have never fancied, and which do not include interesting vegetarian...warm items except of carrot, potato and turnip casserole (which aren't interesting, to be honest). Understandably, the price - from my point of view - was a bit high (EUR 36).
When I called them to reserve a table, I asked for any alternatives for a vegetarian. Waitress couldn't promise anything but was friendly and welcoming on the phone.
As we arrived at the venue, I was offered an additional place of roasted vegetables, set in a beautiful way on a big place. BIG. Waitress sent greetings from the chef to the vegetarian. Very cool and so sweet!
We had a lovely afternoon in this gorgeous wooden villa. If you are traveling to Finland and interested in wooden architecture and building, come and visit Kymin Huvila. It is definitely worth visiting and eating at.More
This wooden house was built in 1873 and it is the oldest still inhabited house in the northern part of Kymenlaakso province. They have a very unique restaurant in this villa. They have an extremely nice (and cheap) homemade buffet lunch (but not much more)....Today they also served gateau because an Eurasian oystercatcher had got four chicks. The restaurant is situated only 300 meters from Taideruukki artisan district. So you can easily combine these unique places. There are also some rooms for accommodation in Kymin Huvila.More
In a very beautiful building (ex-management club of the ex-paper mill) the best possible buffet lunch of Kouvola. Well prepared food, excellent service and beautiful interiour. Small hotel also included.
Date of visit: July 2015
