After the 'Lonely Planet' on Portugal and our Airbnb host had recommended this restaurant, we booked a table. We were greeted with service that was unfriendly, in fact I would go so far to say 'Brusque'. After ordering, the waiter had completely got our starter...incorrect and, was not great, also our main meals were disappointing. They were not that imaginative or flavoursome, compared to another great restaurant that we had been to, previously, that was slightly less expensive. I never write bad reviews, but I really wish we hadn't bothered.More

Great food and wine in good atmospheric well priced restaurant. If we were in town for longer, we would definitely go there again.

I recently visited Portugal with my wife, my sister, and brother in law. Driving from Lagos to Lisbon, we decided to take the slower route along the Alentejo coast and stop for lunch in Vila Nova de Milfontes. I'd been there more than 10 years...ago and eaten at Tasca do Celso. It was extraordinary then and it was extraordinary now. Absolutely delicious food and attentive, informed service (even though we arrived almost as lunch was ending). You must eat here.More

We went to this restaurant because of its excellent reviews. With a $ $$$ rating, it seemed upmarket and perfect for an indulgent outing—what a disappointment. We fell into a tourist trap. The below-average food was way overpriced. The savoury food was too salty, the...rice was undercooked, and dishes took forever to be delivered to our table. The service was slow, the staff was quick to find excuses, and what happened next was kafkaesque. I grabbed the first of 4 pieces of fish, and it was undercooked, raw in the middle. We call the waiter who bends on the plate, cuts the other three pieces open and cries, “haha! These pieces are cooked!” and goes away after trying to prove that we are wrong about the rawness of the food. REALLY?! Would you expect this from a $$$ rated restaurant? Then there was the fun bit: We did not finish our food because our appetite had gone and the fish was way too salty, we paid our bill and left quickly after allowing my daughter (who by then was quite embarrassed about the hooba), to have a dessert (a chocolate mousse that was very average by the way). As we were leaving, the waiter ran after us into the street with a doggie bag and was perplexed when we said “in the garbage bin please”. ….More

Really great service (incredibly professional, yet thoughtful). The food was magnificent. We ordered the Portuguese version of paella (a little more runny) and it was the most flavorful dish we’ve ever consumed. Highly recommend it! I guess the restaurant is synonymous with this town (i.e....if you go to this town, you must eat here). We were there in the winter so reservation was a bit easier but I’d expect this to be super crowded (so make a rez) in the high season. Try to sit in the wine room if possible, it’s very cozy and you’re surrounded by like 400 wines!More

Excellent food, 5/5. We had the steak and monkfish and were both faultless. The deserts were incredible also and Flavio was also a great host. Will definitely be back. Thank you

We only had one night in this small town and were recommended to restaurant by it’s partner establishment Herdade do Touril where we had spent the previous night. Full of atmosphere and a great range of food..it was our best meal in Portugal but what...made it special was the attentive waiter who served us so well...just sorry we didn’t get his name. Also appreciated the complimentary acorn liqueur at the end!More

This restaurant was an absolute surprise. Different foods and tastes. Traditional Portuguese kitchen using recipes out of the Alentjo region. I was glad to anticipate that moment.

No words for this place. The food is just amazing, pure Alentejo heart. I recommend the “porco preto” for sure, no doubt. The wine list has more than 30 pages, plenty of amazing wines that you can choose. In my humble opinion, the best restaurant...in the area, by far.More

When visiting vila nova de milfontes, we decided to book a table for two at lunch and we aren’t disappointed. We ordered grilled fish with vegetables and some amêijoas à bilhão pato and everything was very tasty A little bit expensive but the food was...very good.More

I am not sure about that. I visited in late summer. Suggest you check their website. I do hope you find that is open. I can thoroughly recommend.
