We had a booking as a table of 7 for a family dinner as we would not all be together for Christmas. We had been previously, 4 of us, and enjoyed the night so much we decided it was perfect to bring the rest of...the family who had travelled to Lismore for this particular dinner. We had those that had never been so hyped up for a great evening with great food because our last experience was such a positive one, sadly it turned out to be the opposite. The starter was a massive hit until one of us realized our food was cold. Then the mains... NO ONE had a warm dinner. Some even had stone cold dinners. The flavours were fantastic but sadly we couldn't enjoy it. 2 mains were sent back and those 2 people decided they would not have a main because it had turned them off they're dinner. I will say that the rest of us did indeed finish our dinners except for one person, and we left starving. On to desserts; The menu had stated that the brownies would come with chocolate sauce and it did NOT! Nor were they hot. The sticky toffee pudding was a plainish sponge cake with sugar lumps in it, I saw no dates. And as for the "butterscotch sauce". It was laughable. Watery sugar thrown over my dessert. The christmas pudding came with no creme anglais as stated it would on the menu. Did I mention we are a family of chefs? That's the embarrassing part. And to top it all off, a member of the family wanted to express her feeling on our experience on paying the bill. The lovely waitress who was VERY attentive and helpful may I add, had to take the blunt of our negitivity as her... What looked and seemed like a manager, stood behind her and kept his back turned. We were not the only table that complained, so perhaps he didn't fancy turning around to face us? I don't know but it was very unpleasant and unperfessional to let that lovely girl take the blunt. And if you are looking to be toasty and warm, don't be fooled by the big open fire, we were freezing. They wheeled around one gas heater to different tables. As we are wine people, one of us had the app called "Vivino" which tells you everything you need to know about particular wines. The 2 bottles of red wine that were ordered can be bought in SuperValu for €12.99 and for as little as €8 euro in other places. We were charged €32 euro per bottle!! No one minds paying for good wine but that's madness.More

A real gem of a place. Got a booking for a Friday evening and were very pleased with our choice. Really interesting menu selection (creamy chicken liver pate with a fantastic relish and sourdough bread to start, cajun chicken burger from special burger menu (main),...authentic goats cheese and vegetable pasta dish (main) ….even ventured to the dessert menu (white choc cheesecake and warm choc brownie 👍👍👍). Wine choice intuitive and hit the mark. Found the staff to be very pleasant and authentic. Warm fire to add to the nostalgia of a great evening in Lismore. Keep it up!!!More

Have visited a hand full of times and really enjoyed it, but only recently booked an evening meal for the full dining experience. The decor is unique and wholesome, the open fire makes it such a cozy, homely experience. I opted for the Lamb burger...- probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. It came with hand cut chips, they were also so so good. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie that too met expectations! The staff were friendly and attentive and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs, - something I don’t see often. Overall we had the best food and the best experience! A gem of a place in small town Lismore.More

Had this on our list for several months and finally visited but it was disappointing. Ordered Fish Cakes for starter, this was tasty and well presented but the one fish cake was very small, pickles and sauce were tasty but overall too small. We waited...exactly one hour for the mains, beef and salmon with chorizo, the beef was ok plenty gravy, only tender stem broccoli served with both mains, roast potatoes and mash which was good but unfortunately cold. The salmon was grilled and tasty but there was no chorizo on the plate again plenty sauce and roast potatoes. We ordered a kids pasta which arrived 10 min after our mains, 70min after we arrived, this was tasty but at €10 for a child’s dish too pricey. Desert we had white choc and berry cheesecake and a cappuccino, the base of the cheesecake was too thin and it was very creamy, the coffee was good, we were there a total of 2 hours and it was at about 50% capacity, also a couple at a nearby table waited a long time for their food and they handed back one dish. The pastry’s on display looked good, the staff seemed over concerned about selling coffee to every customer but were pleasant, overall it was disappointing as we had travelled over 1 hour to visit.More

We booked a table of five for early on a Saturday evening for a rare sibling get together. We were greeted by a lovely friendly waitress. Starters: We ordered Calamari which was tough and had a thick, greasy and tasteless coating. The chorizo arancini lacked...flavor and texture. The pate was the only starter that met expectations. Mains: child’s burger and fries - the inside of the bun was burnt, no condiments - just a burger. At our request it was replaced. Still a plan burger in a bun - no condiments. When I tasted the meat of my daughters burger - it was literally tasteless. The other mains were just warm-not hot. The truffle mash accompanying one of the main courses was so oily it was overwhelming. Taste and quality of venison and lamb mains was very poor. When asked about satisfaction levels we gave our honest feedback- primarily as we really want to see a local restaurant succeed in these challenging times. The waitress was really apologetic and offered desserts and coffee with their compliments. We had some coffee and one dessert. My contact details were taken and I was assured I’d receive a callback after service that night. Four days later and no call received. I hope that it was an off night and that the kitchen team take note of this feedback. However a previous visit was not great either. We really want to be able to choose this restaurant with confidence and support a local business.More

Friends and I ate lunch at the Baker’s Table on the basis of the Georgina Campbell 2022 plaque displayed inside the door. Although the restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the staff are polite, the two course lunch that awaited us was nothing short of...a farce. 3 of us ordered “Goats Cheese” arrancini served with beetroot, and some greens. After waiting over one hour for the food we were presented with arrancini that were so hard from deep frying it was difficult to cut them with a knife. There was no goats cheese to be seen on the plate, nor was there any beetroot. The waitress brought out a plate of beetroot as we were finishing and said the chef forgot to add it…Another friend ordered linguine that was overcooked and completely tasteless. Because the experience was so bad we were offered wine on the house. We had high hopes for this new spot but the experience leaves me questioning the Georgina Campbell award.More

The waitress was friendly. Had to wait a long time for the food to arrive ( almost an hour) and there was no explanation or apology. They offered a set pasta meal ( a main and a pudding). I asked if it was possible to...just have the pasta dish only but was told it had to be ordered as part of the set meal. More flexibility here would have been welcome.More

Arrived today at approximately 2.30 with 2 hungry kids. Was seated in a very cramped corner of the front of restaurant. A high chair created even less space. Ordered drinks and food. One large table of about 8 near us and a table of 3...beside us so not very busy. Drinks took a while but I didn’t think too much. About 20 mins in I said to hubby god it’s slow but expected food to come any minute. Roll on another 10/15 mins no sign of food . Kids starting to get a bit cranky . Nobody came near us since we ordered. Went to loo and realized there was a whole other seating area in the back which again only one or two tables taken. Not sure why we were put into a cramped corner. On way back noticed chef leaning over his work station chatting away to another guy. Didn’t seem under any pressure! When I came back hubby asked waiter where our food was , he said it will be here in 2 mins and then a waitress offered to let the kids pick out something from the front counter free of charge due to the delay. We refused as it was full of deserts! Waited another 10/15 minutes. My hubby stood up and told waiter we can’t wait any longer and we left. Will not be back again. Lady on table beside me said I don’t blame you for leaving we were waiting ages as well. First and last experience of the bakers table. Unless u have nothing to do and all day to do it and are not very hungry I would not darken the door of this place!More
