Had been looking forward to eating here and felt lucky that we got a table at relatively short notice however… Understandably the menu was quite limited and we can only assume that’s Covid related but the discrepancy in the quality, size and taste of the...dishes we ordered cannot be blamed on Covid. We were a table of 3 and whilst the starters were average and overpriced they were acceptable. The mains however were a huge disappointment - two of our party had the haddock and chips expecting a decent restaurant quality with perhaps a twist given the reputation of the place - unfortunately the fish was very greasy and thick with partly cooked batter, chips were very greasy too and the side of ‘mushy peas’ completely tasteless and a pointless addition. One of our party had the duck - declared it very tasty and interesting despite there being no veg or side. He had asked if it came with any veg and the server did not know nor did he offer to go and check - poor start to the customer service side of things! We ordered a side to go with it and were told that was ‘fair enough’ with a distinct lack of interest. Service was mixed - one server couldn’t be bothered hiding his lack of interest and disdain for the diners and the other had better interpersonal skills or as least hid his disdain better… Shared a dessert of sticky toffee that was tasty enough so ended on a sugar high to a pretty disappointing and overall tasteless meal. Won’t be going back!More

Booking appears essential as we couldn't book an evening meal because of high demand. (Weekend so might be easier in the week). Arrived to find the restaurant empty but it filled up quickly. Small place but felt cosy and personal service. Staff on the ball...and very pleasant. 2 x roast beef dinners with all the trimmings and a hearty pudding. Limited menu but the food was very nicely prepared and presented. All in all a good experience. A bit pricey for our usual budgetMore

Booked this place based on reviews. The menu was very limited. I ordered the pork dish, which actually came out with linguine?? It was a spicy pulled pork tossed with noodles. Very strange combination, and other than the level of spice used, it was not...impressive at all and lacked flavor. Its like they had left over pulled pork and decided to use up their box of noodles from last year maybe left over from a proper pasta dish?? Sorry, but this was one of the worst dishes Ive ever experienced. Couldnt even finish it. My husband ordered the beef pie/cottage pie. He ate it but said there wasnt much beef in it and it only came with a spoonful of cabbage on the side. We did not stay for dessert...left as soon as we finished our drink. My husband ended up taking me for a nice steak dinner elsewhere later that evening.More

We have been here before on previous visits to the area and thoroughly enjoyed however this time were disappointed. The food was not above average. The roast beef we had was dry and chewy.

We were very excited to come here and saw great reviews! It was meant to be on the finer dining side, with fresh food. We were disappointed as the menu was very limited e.g. 4 mains to choose from: fish dish, veggie and a beef...a pork. The menu was very limited in description and i ordered the pork, however it came as a pasta dish which is did not say at all on the menu, it had no flavour at all and was so spicy it ruined the whole dish! It was a great big dish and at £17 for pasta was well over priced... i mean if your going to make a posh frankie and bennies meal?! My parter on the other hand had a lovely baked fish which he said was lovely yet compared to the size of my dish was disappointed at it was very small and was left feeling still hungry afterwards.... they looked asif they were mixing frankie and bennies with fine dining. When the waiter asked how our meals was we said hmm it was ok.. nothing special. When we complained he said theres nothing i can do, i said why is the portion sizes so different and why are we limited to 4 things on the mains? Very different to online, he just said they lost a chef and haven't been able to create a bigger menu due to staffing, we went to order desserts hoping they would be better. I ordered crumble but asked if i could have custard instead of ice cream (because lets face it custard is better and traditional) he said sorry we can't also we've just had two big tables come in and we don't have time... this put us off so we cancelled deserts and asked for the bill. He didn't offer anything and didn't seem to care.. i paid and when we left he was no where to be seen, no goodbye just hid away in the kitchen. Not really what i expect from a place like this... not willing to do anything for their customers. Also, not to mention my partners meal was £25. We paid £52 for x1 drink each and x1 main. This is ridiculously over priced.More

Another lovely meal. Not just as extensive menu due to chef shortage but he coped well under difficult circumstances. Nice attentive service and felt very covid safe. Would be such a sad day if the village lost this super bistro. Great website for booking meal...and recommend you use as popular restaurant and less capacity due to covid restrictions. We will return.More

This was our first return to Anderson’s since lockdown began and it was way below previous standards. We were initially concerned when we saw the menu online , but still arrived with high expectations. My mussels starter was tasty but lacked a certain je ne...sais quoi, (ordinary bread with no butter) , but I was hugely disappointed with my vegetarian main of vegetable tart. A small piece of pastry, topped with a few vegetables with a side of cabbage for £15?? I was still hungry so was looking forward to my dessert of ‘chocolate’..... this was very good apart from the ‘coffee granite’ which quickly melted and left a pool of water on the plate. Such a pity as we had been so ecMore
