Last week my wife and I hosted her brother and niece at KW in Karjaa. We had seen the reviews on TripAdvisor and decided it was worth a try. We are glad we visited and certainly recommend the restaurant. The interior is modern and cozy....There is sufficient spacing between tables to feel comfortable and not worry about others overhearing a conversation. The music was a suitable blend of folk and light pop, and not too loud. Just the right atmosphere for a romantic dinner or dinner with friends. It just works. Friendly service and fair prices, actually a good deal for food of this quality in Finland where restaurants tend to be spendy. I had the house hamburger and fries. The bun is made in house and there are two patties. Very good. The fries were perfect, too. Our niece had the salad with grilled salmon and t was both delicious and generous. Her brother had the steak (200 grams) with cognac sauce and a green salad. He was very satisfied. My wife had the Skågan toast with a generous serving of shrimp. Everything was good and we were all quite satisfied. So it is all good, but the dish you don't want to miss is one of the desserts -- a licorice pannacotta. It is delicious and unique. I have rarely had a better dessert anywhere, and I have travelled the world enjoying good restaurants. The pannacotta was silky smooth and bursting with flavor. The licorice syryp is scrumptious and the orange sorbet is a perfect foil. The dish is pretty as a picture, too. It is very Finnish and quite modern. We all agreed it is worth a return visit just for that dessert. And at $8.50 it is a bargain, to boot. In fact, our orders were all quite reasonable, as noted. I was on a business trip to tammisaari recently, and was looking for somewhere to eat on TripAdvisor, when I noticed this place. The waiter was very pleasant and fortunately for me spoke good English. I chose three courses and was very impressed by each...one, but the dessert was fantastic (liquorice pannacota) I know some people don't like liquorice but it was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. I will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to colleagues.More

Wanted to have late lunch after a full day in Fiskars. KW was a pleasent suprise, looking modest outside but interior was nice, menu was good and the service an food excellent.

KW offers the food at the level that you could not expect when entering the restaurant. It looks like a pub with dark interior, but the terrace opens the daylight when you go there. The food is something you do not typically get in the...Finnish pub. The service is kind and done in the right way from the right - not just serving from the other of the table. That's the first plus. But the food really surprises, the pasta and sauce was just perfect, the chili chicken on the top of it is also somewhat spicy. The black pepper (you need to add on) makes the plate really tasty. The salmon on the salad bed was also well prepared - not dry at all. The hamburger has too much of everything and it is impossible to taste anything anymore - but enough ketchup can save it - that obviously is not the purpose. The hamburger beef and toast are self made which is a good base, but then the cook should decide the rest in the way that you can get a clear taste. But all in all KW can absolutely be recommended. The rating should be - because of the hamburger - 4, but the rest was so much above the expectations that 5 is fair.More

Came quite adhoc for lunch as part of a daytrip. Had longcooked entrecote with cabbage stew and potatos. A great combination of tastes. The entrecote had been in the oven over night, cut and fried in the pann. The cabbage stew was a combination of...several sorts of cabbage and parsley. Delicious! My wife had pesto pasta with chicken. She would have preferred a bit bigger portion and bit stronger tastes. The kids had meatballs with mashed potatos. The special was their concept for childrens portions. There was two prices for a smaller and larger kids portion. Excellent insight! Kids can be 2 or 12 and the appetite differs.More

The food is excellent, very tasty and well served. Staff is friendly and wine selection is acceptable. The place is a little noisy, and decoration a bit rustic. There are only a few places in Karjaa to choose from, this is one of the better...ones!More

I searched a place for lunch and found the kw restaurant. I arrived a little bit after the lunch time but the staff was very friendly and told that the buffet was still open. The food was very tasty and espicially points for the home...made bread. I will visit again, if I'm nearby.More

We were there during our stay in Finland and we found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. We ate the "meal of the day": pork steak with deep fried potatoes, salad and bread with yogurt cream, coffee and vanilla ice cream with strawberries for 15€ only and...everything was perfect. I've eaten in KW both in the evening and lunch time, both great! Very good quality food, good service, and the price is good. And the lunch buffet is excellent quality, and for the price. Why would one eat anywhere else?

Food is perfect. Staff friendly. Menu is changing according to season, i.e. local ingredients. Wort a visit!

Bistro-type food for a good price has made this place so popular that if you do not make a reservation on weekends you usually have to turn back empty-handed. Very friendly service and ambitious approach to things. A popular lunch place with a good salad...selection and excellent, home-made bread.More
