Was recommended to us by nearby B&B and the food was amazing. We were travelling around on our way up to Scotland and to be honest the evening meal we had at the Anchor was the best we had all week. A bit noisy in the bar but a lovely quieter room off to the side that suited us better... More

Had Sunday lunch reasently at the Anchor & we weren't to impressed with the meal for what they are charging for a pub in this particular area. The meat is still mooing on your plate it's that rare,so if you like your meat cooked medium or well done i would mention this to the waitress when she takes your order,... More

Stopped for food on our way home around 8:30pm. Tried two other pubs in Haydon Bridge first with no success and chose The Anchor as last resort, so glad we did! The service was fab, our waiter was very polite and friendly. I had the bacon steak off the specials, this was delicious and such good value. All of the... More

This restaurant was a find. Joann, our server, did an excellent job of explaining the selections and offered great suggestions. Everyone agreed that it was one of the best meals of the trip. The presentation is artistic and the food was excellent. Highly recommended

The meal was okay but not great. The dining room at our hotel was closed and this was an alternate choice for dinner.

I had the fish cakes with chunky chips and they were beautiful. Nicely presented, tasted great and more chips than I could eat! I had a couple of drinks - tea and sparkling water and the bill was less than £15. I felt comfortable eating alone as a single female traveller and the staff went out of their way to... More

Called in for mid-week lunch. Menu is not very veggie friendly but helpful staff tried hard to find something for a vegan and provided an imaginative mixed salad (definitely not your average pub salad!) Well presented.

How to start, do I begin with the good or the bad. I think I'll start with the good. This is a complicated establishment offering fabulous food, a strong menu, reasonable ale, a wide selection of spirits, accomodation, it is well liked by locals and visitors, some great service and a friendly welcome. Now for the bad, the toilets are... More
