Local eatry

So it was a beautiful snowy walk into town for lunch today, we had no expectations of the only restaurant in town, however we were pleasantly surprised! My husband had the hamburger and chips- not that great but I had the smorgasbord lunch 10 euros...and it was great, really well cooked juicy chicken, rice and a nice sauce plus salad Nd lovely rye bread plus a coffee. Good value, nice simple meal. Totally unexpected in the middle on the arctic wilderness. It’s not gourmet but good value honest meal.More

A bit pricey, but delicious food

The prices are a bit steep, but one has to remember that the village of Karigasniemi is a long way from anywhere and almost everything has to be trucked in. We both ate a reindeer steak, which was delicious. The restaurant seems to be open...most of the day, which might be convenient for travellers who have been out very late hunting auroras and thus a bit out of phase with normal mealtimes. Friendly staff.More

Meh! Not good

I had the goats cheese salad starter which was great and tasty. For my main course I had the chicken with risotto. The chicken, and actually half the plate too, was smothered in sauce and the risotto was undercooked. At first the service I received...was friendly and attentive but the young lady left for a while. As I wasn't keen on my meal, I asked the young man if I could pay at the till, after he had walked past my table a few times clearing another table. I was the only guest left. He must have seen that I had hardly touched my food but no questions were asked. For the prices this place charges, the management should really get their act together: the hotel itself is ok, the apartment I was first given was disgusting and the quality, taste and presentation of food was not great either. I certainly won't stay or dine here again.More

Good food

Really good food at the new restaurant. Also new Hotel just opened with 12 quality rooms. Old restaurant serves now fast food ie. Burgers, pizzas etc.

Great dining with local and "normal" food

In norther Norway, this place might be best known for cheap drinks and drunk norwegians, but during the day they have some excellent food here! It's one of the better dining places in a very large radius. I'll keep it short. The food is local,...and tastes great. And how the food is represented, even have a small touch of gourmet written on it. You can get salmon, reindeer, and lots of both excotic and "normal" food. I've usually eat here once a year, and everything I've had so far, has been great!More

Where's the sauce?

I went there today with my family. We ordered two grilled beefs, a plate of "smiling sausages" for our 4-year old, and a plate of french fries for my wife's 11 year old niece. The food was served after a suitable amount of time (10-15...minutes?) and everything tasted great. If I should criticize anything, it would be that the only sauce served with the grilled beefs was a small portion of spicy butter. Maybe I'm over averagely fond of butter, but anyway I was out of butter when I still had half the beef left. At the end of the meal, there was only meat left and it got a bit dry. The toilets are very worn and low standard, and makes you remember that this restaurant is also a pub and a nightclub.More

Really polite stuff and good food

Really lappish athmosphere inside, immediately when we walked into place stuff welcomed us friendly and I asked to make drink, I gave my requires according drink and barteder made perfect drink for me. Really kind and helpful stuff. There wasn't so many people so food...came really fast. In menu there were many different options. This is place where you should go to enjoy friendly enviroment and food in Lapland!More

Local pub with a restaurant area inside. Outside sitting area in the summertime. Alright food, large portion, polite and efficient staff.

Hansa Baari in Karigasniemi

When in the area of northern Finmark the restaurants are scares. This restaurant/ bar has special dinning area for restaurant and bar. Food is good quality for the price and the type of kitchen. Staff is friendly. We drove there from Karasjok (Norway).
