We ate here twice, whilst staying at the nearby Hotel Harriniva. Once we walked, getting slightly lost from the frozen river track and the other time we cross country skied, getting a bit ambitious with our ability! The buffet looked good but we opted for...the menu both times. Very good hamburgers with fries and a drink for £20 and sharing a pizza with drinks for £14. The lady serving and the man cooking were friendly and I think amused as we were the only non locals in the cafe both times. The even let us buy some milk, so we could have tea & coffee in our cabin! Highly recommended.More
nearby gas station - fill up your car and stomach for lunch buffet...not so bad, reindeer is our favourite recommendation (when available) - not expensive. you also can order a-la carte
Restaurant had a good lunch spread at a reasonable price. We decided to go with Pizza. I would rate them in top 5 Pizzas I have tasted in Finland ( Napoli, Classic are the others in the list) The staff were hospitable, While paying for...my lunch I saw the chef preparing Burgers for another order. The scene was very different from the regular burger places, where they just assemble ingredients and wrap it. I wanted to try the burger. but the Pizza was big enough for my hunger, Next time for sure.More
Being on a business trip in the region, i got the recommendation to stop by at this rather unobtrusive place. while most would just pass by and maybe just stop for a fuel refill (the restaurant is at a Shell station), i stopped and was...not disappointed. A "real cook" (and not a warm-up service, nor student-style low professional level), a real cook made sure the food is good. home-made style and a free coffee afterwards - all you want when on a trip. nice, friendly, ... great!More
There are not many restaurants along E8 in this part of Lapland. Hyvä Pata serves lunch buffet (good salad table and home-made (Lapland) style main course) and a la carte (hamburgers etc). In southern Finland this restaurant could get three stars, but Hyvä Pata gets...four ones as it is one of the best restaurants along E8 between Pello and Kilpisjärvi.More
I have been visiting several times during my stay and had several different types of meal in there, large choice of simple, good tasting food for every day that reminds of a good mother´s home, but also Pizza and Hamburgers with reindeer, all of them...very good. The lunch buffet not only offers meat and fish dishes, but also salad, soup, very good , homemade bread and vegetables, so also if one is looking for variety this is a good place. The service is extraordinarily fast, even if you don´t take the lunch buffet and the staff is very friendly. They are open to feedback and search to find new ideas how to offer the best possible service. Also my children liked the food and the atmosphere a lot, which means something.I could see that local people are also coming for lunch regularly, so obviously this is a place where people like to go to, not just a tourist place where people go once. It´s newly opened - so not known very well yet but will hopefully stay for all the people who just want to have a good meal in lunchtime, because it is a nice, friendly place with a good choice of different food every day. This is really a place you should not miss.More
The E8 highway just before the Muonio turnoff Muonio Driving from Kemi to Kilpisjärvi one gets hungry just around Muonio and there are not very many inviting restaurants on nthe E8. However we decided to stop at an unimposing place next to a discontinued Shell...station and had a pleasant surprise. The restaurant proprietor was new, We arrived too late for the buffet lunch but chose dishes from the home-cooking menu which were not the run-of-the-mill petrol station café food. Al dente vegetables - zucchini, spring carrots and celery with minute steak/pepper steak/pork fillet and roast potatoes. Not fine dining but we were not looking for that but definitely better than weMore
This newly re-opened small lunch restaurant lies about 1 km to the south from downtown Muonio. Don't let the slightly rugged facade mislead you as this hidden gem lies behind an unmanned gas station. This restaurant offers lunch with good quality and several options to...choose from during midday hours and à la carte (also pizzas and hamburgers) other times. The menu is, however, rather short, for instance including only a couple traditional Lappish dishes.More
