We had a sunny (if a bit windy) day and enjoyed lunch outside-adjacent. We ordered our lunch and then were offered a tasting of the wines at the bar. This is a great system. While lunch is being prepared, you are happily occupied and then...More

Lovely lunch in a very enjoyable setting. Picturesque views from the balcony. Food and service were of a very high quality. Very much enjoyed the wines both with the meal and the “tastings”. Well worth a visit.

I went to try a particular wine (the 2017 Chenin Blanc which was fantastic). I couldn't have stayed for lunch anyway as the restaurant was booked out... but what a great venue... will visit again for the food... but the wine was magic... highly recommended.

The wines speak for themselves, but I have to say the food left me a bit nonplussed. I elected for the tagliatelle pasta and it was about three times as much food as anyone could actually eat and it was over complicated by too many...More

My past experience has been that restaurants with a terrific view tend to "rest on their laurels" with mediocre food. Not so at the Winery Restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. I and one of my companions had the venison which virtually melted in...More

Mt Difficulty offer a restaurant with a great view of the Bannockburn region (possibly bettered by the Bannockburn Hotel up the hill which was well worth a look and stop for a meal & glass of wine). Having said this, the wines themselves were just...More

Description
The Winery Restaurant at Mt Difficulty provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a delicious lunch. The restaurant is open daily between 12 noon and 4pm. On a fine day the outdoor terrace is the perfect spot to take in the flavours of the region while enjoying the uniquely Central Otago views. The chef produces imaginative cuisine, and the menu showcases the freshest of produce, with a choice of substantial fare or platters to share. The kitchen is open and the dining environment is casual. All main meal options come with suggested wine matches, though diners are welcome to make their own choices during a complimentary wine tasting at our Cellar Door tasting counter. Reservations are essential - demand is high year round and much of our seating is weather dependent.
