As a local to Freshwater Creek, I consider myself very lucky to be so close to such a fantastic small business! It's perfect to visit on your own or with family and friends, for whatever you need; it has everything!
The sponge cakes are divine...(worth every cent!), there are so many pies to choose from with several Veg and Vegan options, although you have to be speedy at peak lunch times because they get gobbled up very quickly.
They have several GF sweet options; lemon slice, salted caramel slice, loaf cakes, you can call up and order a GF sponge for the next day and you will NOT be disappointed. And fruit cakes at Christmas!
If you're not plagued by Gluten or Lactose intolerance, my favourite treat, and the one I recommend to absolutely everybody, is the Sponge Kiss. They truly are a hidden treasure in a shop FULL of treasures.
The best way to enjoy these delicacies is with a coffee or tea, sitting on the little picnic table outside the shop. The Best!!
Because they are dusted with a layer of icing sugar they can be quite messy to eat, so be careful not to get it on your clothes.
If you choose to take it home, be warned that they really only last for one day in the fridge, but they're so easily eaten in one sitting that very rarely will there be any left over!
The car park can be hectic because of its well earned popularity, but if you ever see an opportunity to visit, don't pass it up!More
Food was ok but customer service was atrocious, the young brunette girl was ridiculously rude not only to the customers around but to her colleague, simply be kinder and maybe more people would enjoy their visit. Would not recommend
We stopped by for a snack lunch because it is always busy and we wanted to see why. There is an excellent range of artisan food products from across Victoria but we didn't need any. Quiches, bread sauces etc etc. I asked if there was...a pepper steak pie but apparently not - I chose the Thai Chicken pie after checking all the little labels on the pie warmer. Apparently i took too long to decide because the lady serving me wasn't happy holding the pie warmer door open. My wife decided she didn't want anything to avoid the hostility. Simple solution - have a clear list of what is available don't give customers attitude. The pie was ok but we won't be going back.More
Called in to Support a local Business but won’t make the mistake again. Well known by locals as a go to for Cakes and Slices. Waited my turn outside cafe and then inside. I was next to be served but was overlooked for another customer...who had a just arrived. I said to the Staff attending I think I’m next as I was being ignored. My order was taken abruptly and the customer apologised to me.
As I was leaving the staff member stated to the next customer “ sorry about that” as if I had been rude or difficult. The customer explained that no she had been wrong and hadn’t realised I was waiting. I was made to feel insignificant and in these times where I would’ve thought you’d value business I couldn’t have been more wrong. In the future I will get my coffee at a large chain or Petrol station as don’t need to be treated like this.More
I have been driving past Freshwater Creek Cakes for quite a while now but it was only yesterday that I stopped off for a pie.
The purchase turned into a pie, a coffee, a custard tart, a quiche and some biscuits.
All were absolutely superb....I am now a confirmed regular !More
A local tipped me off about the awesome quiches at FCC. Cracking bloke was right. Feta, basil and sun-dried tomato quiche the best I can recall. Great range of other baked goodies. Will be a returning regular.
We love freshwater cakes!! Have been coming for a long time, very much always enjoy the vanilla slice which has the most beautiful passion fruit icing! Not your average vanilla slice, but my favourite cake of any bakery ever visited! They also sell boscastle pastries...hot and ready to go or frozen to take home, a huge selection of honey, jams and preserves and sauces and even locally made candles!! If you’re early you can pick up fresh Zeally Bay Sourdough. There are two tables at the side of the shop where you can eat. No public toilet use on the premise, however. Ample parking in the drive way, easy to stop in a grab something special for lunch! Will keep coming back!More
Have stopped here a number of times to sample their marvellous pies! They never disappoint! Moroccan lamb is my favourite.
They cook the pies themselves!!!
Shop also has a rich supply of local and home-made jams, cordials, drinks and all sorts of other goodies!
