Stopped here for a pint to relax after work one night. Was a dart night, few about. First time I was ever in the place, so knew no one, and just kept my head down, as the kid, bar man hadn't much to say for...himself. Was checking messenger on my phone, when some drunk guy loudly shouted down from the far side of the bar counter, are you filming me, I didn't hear him properly first and though he was shouting at someone else, but he shouted a second time, I was very much startled. My phone wasn't even facing this guy, and I wanted no trouble, but the young nervous bar man asked me are you filming him. I quickly showed the bar man that I was in messenger, and also showed him my phone which was totally cracked and couldn't even take a picture never mind film some drunk guy in a bar. Young bar boy just said okay, didn't even apologize, as if it was no big deal. But to me it was, I was accused of something in a strange bar where I knew no one and I felt mildly intimidated. I left once I finished my pint and never came back. Found a much friendlier bar up the road where staff and customers had a welcome for strangers, and made it my own. Not a big drinker but wouldn't even arrange to meet anyone here again after this experience. Maybe it was just nerves on the part of the young bar man, but the situation wasn't handled professionally or cordially at all.More

Stopped in for some lunch on the way home from a break in Donegal. Was surprised that only one elderly member of staff was on her own rushed off her feet trying to wait the whole dining room and bar and take calls by herself....But don’t worry she had it covered. She was amazing. I just felt sorry for her. She definitely needed help. But what an amazing women. She made us more than welcome and got us in and out as good as a team of staff would have. The food here was good. Typical bar food and good portion sizes.More

My partner and I came here looking a relaxing night away and when we got here it seemed fine. However as soon as we got to the room it started to go down hill. I had a shower and the water had a foul smell...and didn’t go hot not even lukewarm then there was no amenities in the room such as a hairdryer or phone, just a kettle. We had booked dinner in the restaurant for 7 but when we got there we where told it was fully booked, we spoke with the staff and explained and then we stood at the front for 10 minutes whilst they served other tables. Eventually they seated us in what felt and smelt like a function room (that was basically empty apart from two other tables, so I’m not sure how ‘full’ they where) we then waited 40 minutes to get attention from the wait staff to order drinks and our main. The food and drinks then did arrive relatively promptly but my steak sandwich was burnt to a crisp and my partners side order came out wrong yet we were charged for the side that he ordered which was the most expensive one. Was just over €40 for something overcooked, a wrong side and two drinks. Only plus is that the beds are incredibly comfortable. Don’t be blindsided by the locals reviews.More

My husband and I were talking about our favorite part of our trip to Donegal with our 3 year and 1 year old and we said this was at the top of the list! The ambiance was so nice and welcoming. The food and drinks...were great and the staff was so nice. Plus, it was close to our Bridgeburn House B&B after a long day of traveling!More
