The worst pork pie I've ever tasted. The crust was thin and not traditional pork pie crust. No jelly and the "pork" was dry and bready! The dog did however find it a treat.

Despite being quite a small shop it offers a great choice of virtually everything. It has somebody behind the counter helping you chose and also making fresh coffee. Very good

We had toasted cheese & ham sandwiches. Sausage roll & teas. Very appetising. Clean shop & cheery service. Sat looking over duck pond & had a lovely time eating our food. Can recommend.

I have visited this shop several times over the past few years and always enjoyed the experience and thought they had a good selection of local produce. Today started badly when I went to go in without realising there were already 2 customers inside (the...covid limit). I couldn't see both people from the doorway but apologised and waited outside again once my mistake had been pointed out. I was disappointed by the range of food stocked apart from nice bakery goods, a lot of the other standard items in small packs at inflated prices. That would have been o.k except the lady behind the counter could hardly be bothered to serve me (by then the only customer) and part way through putting my order through the till started a conversation with her colleague about some previous issue. She came over as rude and distinctly grumpy. Times are hard for all of us - ignoring customers probably won't help shops like this and I won't be back.More

There is a selection of goods available here that is also available just across the road at a cheaper price. Everything was going well until the cashier decided that she doesn’t like customers- after paying for my goods and politely saying thank you said lady...stuck her hands on her hips and turned away from me. I don’t understand her actions as I was polite and courteous throughout my visit but apparently she is known for this! Do yourself a favour, visit the shop across the way, save money and be greeted by a lovely, friendly owner!More

This great food store is a mix of modern and old. It has a very modern feel to it inside but in old fashioned surroundings. It has been very cleverly designed and has a nice layout. It has all your basic necessities like coffee, tea,...sugar, milk, tins, etc, etc but it is the specialist foods that make this place amazing. Just a few to try are the local Derbyshire oatcakes (grill them for three or four minutes, load them with bacon and cheese from the village and you will be coming back for more). Or how about the awesome pies (the Huntsman's is my favourite), or the Thornbridge beers brewed just a few miles away in Bakewell (try the Jaipur...it is strong but thoroughly delicious) and for those with a sweet tooth, the tray bake tiffin is simply amazing...so amazing I nearly drove back to get some more. Great local shop and jolly cheerful staff who seem really happy to be working there. I imagine this is how shops used to be in yesteryear...if only all shops were still like this today the country would be a much happier place.More
