House speciality is called a Putcher pie. This is a tasty pie, available in a number of fillings;,including steak and kidney, lamb and red wine and pork and cider amongst others. Which is plenty for six people and comes complete with lots of vegetables. Perfect for an informal evening, the only disadvantage being that it must be ordered in advance.... More

We were staying in the "Dancers" double room - tastefully decorated & modern. Plenty of mains points, including USB charging point for phones. Lights come on as you approach the bathroom, one of the bedside lamps is also touch sensitive. Plenty of drawer & wardrobe space. Bath AND shower cubicle, and nice heated towel rail radiator. The little fridge is... More

Do not book the dining room if you would like a relaxed unhurried evening. Joined friends there to celebrate a 60th Birthday , banter at beginning as we all met up, 3 times waitress asked us for order, obvious we were not ready. Anyway, placed orders, food was superb, but by 9.15 as we were enjoying the company and some... More

Lovely gem of a pub in the country side, beware of small roads when getting there but it is definitely worth it. Food is terrific, steak, duck and curry all highly recommended.

Today a group of us ate here and all were pleased but I had to comment on what appears to be a new addition to the otherwise unsurprising menu, and that was the melt in the mouth pastry pie with ricotta plus, inside, and the most creamy mash and a very interesting sauce with olives. Am hoping The Anchor keeps... More

Nobody concerned when removed plates that food hardly touched.... More

Had ploughman's lunch there on many occasions in the past - fantastic. The menu still says 'ploughman's lunch with crusty bread', except the 'crusty bread' was an ordinary loaf of bread that must have come out the freezer! 23/08/2016

It was a lovely hot summers day so we sat in the large garden. We ordered our food which was very good and reasonably priced, service was efficient. Although initially The Anchor looked a small country pub, inside it opened up into various areas including a large dining room, and outside was really lovely. A lovely place to which I... More

Description
The dining room at the Anchor is light and bright with double doors leading out onto the beautiful garden. With elegant country style decor and seating 40, it is extremely popular, so it is always a good idea to ring before you come or call and make a reservation. On Sundays we always offer at least two different roast meat dishes at lunch time. You can dine informally in the garden - in the summer, lounge and public bar where the menu is the same as in the dining room. Although children are most welcome in the dining room and can have great fun playing in the garden, we do like to keep the pub side for adults only.
