Went to the Rock last night (Friday) as a party of 5 and all ate off the 2 for £10 menu. Didn't expect to much for this cheap price but how wrong I was. Had one of the nicest meals I have eaten, with great service from the staff & intend to make this a regular haunt. Thank you for... More

The 'Rock' is becoming a firm favorite with us, excellent and varied choice on lunch time menu and you can treat friends without breaking the Bank! Good beer and Log fires, can be a bit chilly when away from the fires (dress for the weather!)

A warm welcome in a comfortable atmosphere. We were served timely without rushing. The food is well presented and tasty. Will return again. The only negative was pricey lime and soda.

Lovely atmosphere, very busy but no waiting at all. Excellent three course meal, excellent service. We had the pate, lamb speciality, sirloin steak followed by creme brûlée, all of which was so tasty complimented by a bottle of Chileian Metlot. Superb value for money, have been about 6 times now and have always had the same service and experience.

On arriving we were shown to our table and asked what drinks we'd like, which were swiftly brought over, this I'm afraid to say was the high point of the service we received. We were left looking at the menus for 20 minutes and my partner had to get up to find someone to come and take our order. We... More

Sorry to hear your poor review mark And I will try not to sound too agresive, actually the totally opposite! We had a problem on Sunday with staffing which when our experienced staff book days off it has an affect as we had to rely on young inexperienced staff which is no ones fault but ours so I apologise profusely.... Visited on a very busy Saturday evening, we had a big party of people which i thought was going to be a challenge yet there was also an even bigger party in the same area, the staff handled everything amazingly, they were all very polite and professional, the food was outstanding, every meal was piping hot, portions were massive...... excellent... Visited today for a Sunday roast. Excellent value for money at £14.50 for three courses. Starters were really good - we had the chilli beef, soup and mushroom Stilton pot. Quality of the roast dinner was superb - one of the best Sunday roasts we have had out in a long time. Deserts were lovely as well. Can't fault any... More

Having seen some comments from other reviewers I was paying attention to staff in particular, clearly there's no problem with the quality and value of food here. I have to say we were greeted with a smile, drinks at the bar were promptly served while our table was prepared and within minutes of arriving on a busy Saturday night we... More

I'm gutted that this review is poor as we had been recommended rock and fountain many times. Children's options were appalling; sausage, chicken nuggets or fish fingers with chips. Really? And when asked if the sausages were the same as on the main menu? Nope they're not and they were clearly your bog standard it's only kids so it doesn't... More

Ok shell p you got me perplexed where to start on this one. Maybe I should apologise that you and only you in your party didn't enjoy the meal as the rest of them were happy with theirs and you all left a tip. I would like to bring everyone elses attention to your review of the kings arms where... More
