We had a very pleasent and relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle in this lovely village Auberge in the heart of the sancy mountains. Lovely couple with a friendly smile to greet you. Would recommend to anyone wanting to relax in nature.
We decided to have dinner here an can highly recommend others do do the same. Outdoor dining a nice evening with what we believe is the best of France! Bouef, quiche, desserts and of course good red wine. This was topped by the calm feeling...in St-Donat village, birds singing and sundown. Can highly recommend you to visit Eric and his wife.More

Thank you very much for your wonderful words. It has been a pleasure to receive you!
We ate dinner twice at Auberge de la Providence during our recent stay in Saint-Donat. The three-course dinner was very reasonably priced as were the a la carte items. The food is fresh and tasty, and even the house wine is excellent. Our hosts were...eager to please. Saint-Donat is a bit off the beaten track, but is a good choice if staying nearby. The restaurant also offers lunch including picnic lunches to go, along with snacks and a full bar.More

My friend & I stopped here for lunch on a motorcycle tour of the Auvergne based in Salers. We had looked in a couple of bigger towns but almost given up on finding any decent lunch. I am a vegetarian so the usual "plat de...jours" do not work for me.
We happened to pass this place and a quick look at the boards outside indicated I could get something to eat.
We were not disappointed. We had a great lunch, I had vegetable soup which was really nice and my pal once again after saying he only wanted a light lunch had one of the specials which was pork lasagne made with cabbage leaves in the place of the pasta. This was served with vegetables and home made chips. He eat the lot! Deserts were equally good, we both chose the orange panacotta which were excellent.
This place is a little gem well off the beaten track. We will return and spend a night or two here.
The countryside around here is simply stunning. The village of Saint Donat is charming and the auberge is in a lovely setting.
The host was extremely helpful and welcoming. Of particular note was the number of locals who came in for lunch whilst we were there. Always a good sign in France.More
We stayed here for my wife's birthday and it was indeed a treat. The Dutch hosts, Erik and Caroline, are charming, helpful and informative. The meals are very good and well worth the money paid. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. The area is...outstanding and for access to Super Besse and the surrounding mountain ranges cannot be beaten. Well worth a visit.More
