Restaurant Ämmilä offers traditional local food with a modern twist since 2007. Over the years, Restaurant Ämmilä in Levi has become famous for its honest and authentic Laplandic á la carte menu as well as its home-cooked lunch buffet. The á la carte menu is based on guaranteed clean and excellent raw goods from producers in the nearby areas. Depending on the season, the menu includes trapped willow grouse, game from nearby reindeer herder communities and fish in many different forms, not to mention Laplandic berries and the world’s best puikula potato (almond potato) and more. This is s great place with very friendly service. Beef sirloin with smoked reindeer and cheese was absolutely delicious served with crispy vegetables and fries. The reindeer and snow grouse was also well presented and bursting with flavour.
Dessert was Lappi Twist and was worth trying as was the chocolate cake and cloudberry sorbet. Main courses were better. Popular place and recommended for a special meal. Expensive.

We went here as a hungry couple without reservation on "last minute" choise due to every other popular restaurant being already full and crowded by the village. Lucky for us, waitress was kind enough to manage to squeeze a spot for us still during very busy wednesday evening. Restaurant's overall feeling was slightly old stylish, but atmosphere still cosy! The place was rather loud because it was fully crowded with people. Staff was obviously very busy whole evening, but this was not shown on their behavior. The staff was very friendly and lovely, always ready to give a bit extra time for peoples special needs. The best part of the place, however, was the food. We both took "Reindeer made in two ways" -dish, even though it was rather pricey. But we wanted some good experiences with local reindeer dishes and boy did we get some! The food was absolutely amazing and delicious, totally worth the experience. We would have licked the plates clean if we weren't in a nice proper restaurant and wouldn't have cared of our manners! The dish is rather small however, so if you're hungry like wolf, prepare to order some starters and deserts as additions! Highly recommending the place and one of the must-to-visit restsurants if you're looking authentic reindeer dish experience!!

Great unpretentious dinner with good wines.
This restaurant knows how to prepare the traditional Lapland reindeer stew (amazing!), the steak was great, the fries were really good, and highly recommend getting the blini as a starter.
Atmosphere relaxed and cozy. Service professional and honest - due to the covid restrictions they had too few waiters but handled it with good spirits! Well done!

The main dish was delicious, but many of the serving aspects were frustrating. Mainly the amount of wait was bad and it felt like most of the personnel stopped working at 20. We didn't spontaneously get bread with soup, but got it after asking. Really for a group more attention would have been needed especially towards the end.

We visited the restaurant on Christmas Day and were quite early so the restaurant was virtually empty. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The Lappish buffet was very tasty and good value for money. Overall, we couldn’t fault it.

We found a place without reservation, as it was not high season. The tables are clean and the restaurant is nice and has a nice atmosphere.
We had the Salmon and the Reindeer Burger. We can not confirm the long waittime, our food was served in an acceptable time. The salmon was very tasty and the sides have been nice.
The burger was fresh and juicy and perfectly cooked and the fries coming with it have been nice too, not too greasy and with a good bite.
The service was ok, not very very warm and friendly, but not unmotivated either. So, all in all a good experience. The prices are on the higher side, but it was not overpriced for the quality delivered.

Asked for a keto burger, which in its simplicity means a burger without a bun and salad instead of fries. I got a steak with a lettuce leaf. I went for a return and the customer service was inferior. I do not recommend.

Restaurant recommended by a local. We loved the typical reindeer dishes like the very fresh tuna tartare. Everything is served in large quantities, we almost drove out! The waitress was very nice. The decor is a little kitsch but hey, the food is so good that it doesn't matter.

Excellent restaurant with local dishes based on reindeer, lamb, beef and fish. Both starters and main courses are ample with different tasts on each plate. Truly a pleasure for foreign visitors.

Awesome and cozy place! 16€ Self service a buffet, take whatever You like and eat how much You want! Also a coffee and tea is included! Every day new menu!
We where in Levi resort 3x days and all 3x visited this place!

It was quite late when we came here. Even so Henry made us very welcome .
This was our first taste of reindeer and we both enjoyed it.
I am pleased that we chose this as our introduction to Finland and it set the scene for a fabulous four nights.

After a winter walk we passed by this restaurant to warm up. The soup was great and also the portion was good. I had the raindeer mushroom soup. My son the salmon soup. Big chunks of salmon in the soup. Lovelly place.

We were received with a smile, even without a reservation, and quickly got a table. We ordered food and drinks and both came very quickly.
The food tasted absolutely excellent, the staff were friendly and service minded.

We eat twice diner there. Second time because our kids wanted to go back. Staff is very friendly. Food is very nice. And the atmosfere is great too.

If you like to eat shosoles, go here. After eating this, you will need a dentist to fix your teeth. The service was also really bad.
