Beautiful restaurant, staff lovely, attentive & professional. They are following strict Covid guidelines well. The food was beautiful we were shocked to see some bad reviews. It was very good value too. Wine was nice and a good selection of craft beers available. We will...be back.More

Dined there in the company of the hosts of Ferndale Bed & Breakfast nearby. They recommended the Chalet and we would certainly recommend it. Staff were very pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent. Damien & Anne

Visited restaurant based on local recommendation. Location is good and we were well looked after by the staff who were welcoming and friendly but food failed to deliver on many levels . I chose off the Specials and had Fish cakes (Salmon, prawn and crab)...and the best i can say is the salad for garnish and the dipping sauce were good. As for the fish cakes, they tasted bland, gloopy and greasy as if deep fried at too low a temperature and grease had penetrated, a nasty taste and big disappointment. My wife's crab cocktail was fresh, tasty and well presented and enjoyed. Our main courses were both off the Specials, I had herb crusted hake and medallions of monkfish with a tomato based sauce (like ratatouille) . The hake was the best part, as fish was fresh and well cooked but spoilt completely by the addition of a sprinkling of dried herbs that looked like black powdered dust/soot ..far from the description of herb crust), monkfish medallions over cooked. My wife had black sole which was presented well and enjoyed. The side dishes again failed to deliver, overcooked carrots, mashed potato that was watery and barely edible and overcooked chips that tasted as though reheated. At end of evening the owner did enquire about the meal and when we responded "it was Ok" she responded with "Just OK?" but clearly didn't want any specifics or dialogue.. It is expensive for what it is, great location and waitress was very friendly - would not recommend or be inclined to return.More

We had dinner one evening and enjoyed our experience. My partner had the oysters and cold seafood platter (he very much enjoyed it as it was not something he’d had before). I had the scallops (delicious) and salmon fish cake (nice but a bit bland)....Both very much enjoyed our meal and they served lovely Guinness. The service was exceptional. Such lovely staff and a very pleasant evening.More

Nice meal and we enjoyed our food. Our gripe was that there was so much humming and hawing from the owner/manager about whether or not she could fit us in. Finally we were given a table at early time of 6:30 pm. We were the...only ones in the restaurant until 7:30pm, apart from a family of 3 who were finishing their meal as we started. We were embarrassed to be shown to the worst table in the restaurant, right by the door, when there were several much nicer tables available and which were still empty when we left.More

We were very dissapointed by our trip to the chalet. I am a huge seafood fan and am willing to pay for it but this was really not up to scratch. We had oysters which were well priced and tasty, but the mains were between...21 - 28 euro for a very dry fillet of fish with overcooked bland veg sides. I also didn't find the staff very helpful and was let down that they don't make the most of their amazing view! The decor is very dated. I would reccomend sticking to the pubs on Achill (Gieltys or Amethyst are good) and saving your money for good food in Westport!More

This restaurant was so good we visited on successive nights and were not disappointed. From the warm and friendly greeting we received on arrival from the fabulous staff this was a great experience. We have visited this restaurant each year for the past number of...years and it has never disappointed us. The standard of the food was excellent as usual as was the presentation of same. The lovely and friendly staff looked after us so well and for nostalgic reasons played some Glenn Campbell music for us. When we were leaving the staff all assembled at the reception desk to say goodbye. A wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this restaurant.More

My husband and I dined here in August 2020. We shared a seafood platter starter which was tasty but if you are very hungry you'd probably need 2 starters. I had the salmon main which was nice while my husband had lobster and crab claws....For dessert we shared a crumble which was without a doubt the best course, gorgeous dessert. The staff were very welcoming and polite. Overall however, we just felt that the restaurant decor needed a facelift and also that the presentation of the meals lacked the finesse of a fine dining seafood restaurant. Considering that the food is quite expensive I felt these points were enough to validate not awarding the top 5 star mark. With a bit of tweaking here and there this could be a top class seafood restaurant.More

I know.. During our 8 day trip around Ireland this was the least impressive service experience. The food wasn't bad in general, but not as good as we expected.
