We find it impossible to understand some of the ratings. We went for lunch & received a friendly welcome and were seated on the deck overlooking the river (great location). Our server arrived shortly after we arrived and again welcomed us with showing interest to...see if we up for the day etc. and as we were, continued with a more than typical welcome to the area & to the restaurant (2nd 5 star welcome). She took our drink order that arrived shortly thereafter. After a well timed break, she returned to take our order. The food arrived piping hot after. Our table ordered 3 different plates & the 4 of us rated the food as 5 star. Good portions, nice presentation & "HOT". When we were finished, our server cleared the table and as they were not too busy, she welcomed us to stay & chat. On the pandemic side, they were highly efficient insofar as sanitation was concerned. They provided hand sanitizer on arrival & followed the mask protocol to the "T". The restaurant was spotless including the washrooms. Based on our experience, we would all highly recommend you visit Winnifred's and see what PERFECT service & great food is all about. Thanks for making our visit to you town so enjoyable.More

We recently had visited to have a few drinks and watch the basketball game. Marie went out of her way to ensure she found the correct channel. The drinks and snack we had were great. Nice cozy place to sit by the bar. Both Marie...and Elyse did a good job to ensure we were well looked after.,More

Joy or jody was great telling us some of the history of the house but Melissa needs to be alittle more social fir this line of work .Food was fast and okay but alittle pricy. The place needs alittle love but it was okay. I...won't rush back mainly due to the crazy amount of flies. They need ti have fly swatters and use them. We killed 2 bees also. I noticed the kitchen staff not wearing mask or not wearing them properly. Too bad, it could be a cool place.More

Long time patron of Bridges before renamed. This place is going downhill. Cold food, terrible attitude by outside bartender who should not be in the service business. Will not accept ignorant behavior by any staff when paying hundreds $$$ for group meals. There are other...places in Thornbury that will respect patrons.More

I've never posted a bad review but this place was horrible. The food was terrible. My friend ordered a burger that sounded great but came out over cooked, small and covered in processed cheese even though the description said aged cheddar. Much better options in...Thornbury.More

Five of us, seating outdoors. Self serve drinks. Menu pretty limited. Order food at bar. The meal arrived in less than 10 minutes which meant some items were pre-cooked or pre-made. I had a salad and half the lettuce was old and brown; my sister...had a salad with chicken added for $5.00. The chicken was deep fried little strips on top of her salad and she couldn't eat it – a $20 salad!! Both our salads had been dressed in advance of us arriving at the restaurant. Kids ate burgers but said they weren't very good. My Mom had chicken wings and I can honestly say they were the worst wings I've ever had. Even the fries were gross. And it's not even cheap! Don't waste your money. Why do they call it an English Pub anyways?More

Go for the lovely patio and view, but stick to the classics for the menu. I had the portobello burger and it was very sad (tiny little mushroom on a bun). Friends had fish and chips and that looked good. However food didn’t arrive together...and my salad had a random walnut and piece of chicken in it (leftover from another salad I’m guessing?). But order a pint, get some fries food, keep your expectations low and enjoy the view. You’ll be fine.More

We visit Winifred's from time to time as we live fairly locally full time and are greeted by some of our favourite service staff by name on arival, often with our favourite beverage close behind. We love the fact that we can feel safe and...spread out on the patio, and are fans of the full service patio in the shade. Food is great, service even better! Alana is always there to check on us, remembers our names and always shares a smile! And Maggie provides that same intimate service. It often does feel like family...we definitely recommend Winifred's! Best patio and backyard in town!More

We saw this pub while driving by after enjoying the beach. Reservations recommended but will take walk ins if not busy. All staff are wearing face shields and not masks. The service was extremely slow this day - had to ask twice before getting served...and they weren't too busy. The manager made up for it but almost walked away. The sangria was delicious as I don't have often. Wished they had had a hard lemonade on a hot day. Not much English in the menu and found it a small menu. The patio is nice and the river is right beside the property. They have a full-serve area or self-serve area in the back area. My burger was delicious but the fries were a little overdone. My husband had the fish and he had had better. Another couple were not pleased with their meals either so don't know if it was just an off day or not.More
