We came here on a limb as all other restaurants were fully reserved and were pleasantly surprised at the dishes that we received. The manzo with caciocavallo and bombette di suinothe were exquisite. The decor and atmosphere also added to the experience. Overall great choice...if you're looking for good pugliese cuisine in Nardò!More

We were the first customers at 19.45 on a Saturday in September. We were pleased to be offered a choice of tables on the terrace, and chose the secluded table with views of the nearby church. It is a romantic setting. Service was attentive as...you would expect given we were the only customers and speaking English was no problem. The menu didn't offer lots that appealed to me - coffee encrusted pork? So I settled on a fillet steak with cheese... at Eur18. Portion sizes varied a fair bit but all the food was delicious. The steak was served just as I had ordered, although I would question if it was really fillet as there were some gristly pieces. Red wine I ordered at Eur20 was excellent I have the following criticisms. - The light at the table was poor making it difficult to read menus - No sauces were offered to accompany any dish and no salt or pepper available, and I definitely think the parmigiana would have benefitted from pepper - bread was just deposited in a corner on the empty table, rather than being placed where all guests could reach it - All dishes were warm rather than hot - on at least two occasions plates were taken from in front of us as we were still finishing our last mouthfuls, making us feel unnecessarily rushed However, with a few refinements this could be a very good restaurant.More

Relais Il Mignon is a gem for many reasons. It is an absolutely charming restaurant set in a charming historic district. Pasquale who manages the restaurant is the most gracious host making certain you are well acquainted with their delightful menu and incomparable wine list....The food is exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented. The regional dishes have a sophistication and delicate approach that elevates them to haute cuisine. The octopus is without flaw, absolutely delicious. Many in our group were vegetarian and were able to enjoy a fine meal as well. The eggplant lasagna was divine. The roof top is incredibly lovely. Everything about this place is magical.More

During our stay in nardó we had a couple of dinners in this place. Location is very nice and enjoyable (both the rooftop and the patio has plenty of charm). Food is exactly the way I like: taking local best and fresh ingredients with a...little twist. Spaghettoni with shrimps, anchovies and burrata were to die for as the octopus. Price is really reasonable compared to the quality of food. Best price for quality we had in salento.More

The cherry on the top of a visit to beautiful Nardò, this place is magical from the outside, and magical inside. Elegant cuisine, highly original in flavour combinations and yet rooted in local and traditional foods. Truly elegant, and at the same time sincerely amiable...kind. The magic begins outside, in the fairy-tale courtyard, as continues inside with elegance and taste, and finally expands in the heavenly "above". You cannot go to Nardò and not pop into this Relais for dinner. I didn't stay at the hotel but I have a sneaky suspicion it must be delightful. Will definitely return and bring friends.More

Ate in the courtyard here. Good service and good antipasti. The primi and secondi were fine- not life changing but fine. Perhaps a bit pricier than other places but an acceptable alternative if you are looking for something a bit more up town.

There is a saying among travellers that you'd never eat where you sleep. Whatever the origin of this saying is, it is certainly not true for relais il mignano, via lata 29 in Nardo, Puglia. The hotel is a typical town palazzo in beautiful medieval...Nardo (we selected Nardo as our base for trips to the Salento countryside both at the Ionian sea and at the Adriatric sea.the palace has big quiet rooms and a wealth of small terraces all over the place to collect each ray of sunshine (which was, we must admit, absent during our stay. This couldn't be helped by il mignano, of course) but, the idea that we could have sat there with a fresh cappucino or a glass of delicious Apulion red wine, was some consolation. Internet was strong and everywhere. So we spent many hours in the book lined salotto; a joy in itself. The restaurant wasgood with a lot of fresh fish and seafood. Like many restaurants it offered a selection of antipasti (5 in total, which gives an element of pleasant surprise and which will do as a whole meal.we only have one advice for all restaurant owners who have this sample on their menus: please halve the orginal quantities of the antipasti in order to prevent a too early total satisfaction. Very good wine; wecompletely fell in love with Apulian reds: negroamaro, malvasia, nero di Troia: sweet memories Benzee, utrecht, hollandMore

FOOD: very good. I enjoyed monkfish pasta and the "ombrina" fish was the best I ever had. Dessert "Biancomangiare" was ok, SERVICE: the owner at the cash and the one who should have been the maître were nice and professional. But the younger waiters looked...not professional enough for a place that aims to be top rate, they forgot some requests, jumped on my foot during serving, looked not coordinated. I understand that in August the place was crowded and they had to climb many times a lot of stairs but I wasn't satisfied from that service, LOCATION: great, I had the the chance to eat on the terrace with a nice view on the other buildings roof, RATE PRICE/QUALITY: fair for food and location but not for the serviceMore

Despite the great atmosphere (especially when dining on the terrace), the food didn't live up to the ambience and to the prices. My main course was baked mullet, one of the most expensive choices on the menu. It tasted dull and gummy. The octopus I...had as an appetizer was decent, but too salty to enjoy its flavor. The service inattentive, due to an inexperienced waiter. The price way too high, especially considering the location (Nardò isn't exactly the most popular city in Salento). We were quite disappointed.More

We were staying in Nardó for a few weeks to oversee a building project and there are not so many choices within the old city: we had heard the meals here were top notch and we were not disappointed. Pasquale was our waiter on the...2 times we dined here: he was the ideal server! with the second meal he suggested a different wine from the same house, we loved it and guided us to be adventurous. The ambience: refined, elegant, relaxed: the perfect remedy for those cold humid March days we were there. There are several small dining rooms and a hushed atmosphere. So many restaurants don't get the art/decor right...but here the colors and textures and artworks all combine to project a calming welcoming feeling. You could easily have a private conversation across the table, no issue with noise! The food: they LOVE food here, they celebrate food here, the cuisine takes advantage of all the bounty of Puglia but is original, with a global awareness of food trends. One stand out dish I had was a flan of artichoke with a goat cheese mousse on top: lovely and o so delicious! Portions were perfect. Plating was considered and never sloppy. We also had our first taste of lampascione here: this is a seasonal delicacy, a bulb, like a hyacinth, served lightly fried in a tissue thin layer of batter on a bed of rucola. They accommodated the one vegan in our party, but that is relatively easy in Puglia a zone rich in greens, vegetables and legumes. Our serve: Pasquale. Thank you Pasquale, you were never invasive, you were tactful and spoke excellent english, (a nice plus) and made wonderful recommendations. Cost: 3 people with wine euro 80. extremely good value! in Italy the nice surprise is the wines are not marked up to kill the budget, so each of our bottles on the nights we ate there were euro 15 each and excellent. Go here! Enjoy! treat yourself.More
