We came with friends from Nerja and had a lovely lunch. Sergio and his team are always kind, friendly, and professional ( it so nice when you don't have to wait forever to get drinks started). In the winter months, we have had their Menu of the day which is fresh, yummy, and inexpensive ( it's almost not worth cooking at home for those prices) This lunch with wanted to spoil our guests and choose from the menu specials. We had Wild Boar stew and Oxtail roasted in the oven. SO nice that they also cook other things then grill fish etc. The veggies were steamed and the fries were crispy. The men enjoyed well-chilled draft beers and we ladies had a lovely bottle of Rose wine. All in all a beautiful afternoon with good food and lovely company Definitely, a place to also go and enjoy the view of historic Competa Thank you Patricia and Peter

Menu, food, presentation and service - all excellent!!

Enjoyed another delicious meal here at the weekend. We shared a selection of tasty starters and then I enjoyed the Tournedos Rossini which was cooked to perfection. The service and presentation were both excellent. Gracias a Sergio y su equipo y hasta pronto!

a lovely option away from the main square

the level of service was excellent, attentive and receptive to my pescatarian needs. plenty of time taken to allow you to choose your food after drinks ordered. i went for a staple gambas pil pil to start and really good size prawns marked it up from many others. my main was beautifully cooked and the house wine of s good standard. a little dish on the house noted my no meat please and was a little tick. the setting offers lovely mountain views toward the sea . Prices are really competitive. As a first experience of this well establushed local restaurant this will be a repeating call with family.

Wonderful, family run restaurant with delicious food and great views

El Pampano is a wonderful Spanish restaurant in Competa. It sits "above" the village with wonderful views over the village towards the sea in the distance. The owners are incredibly friendly, as are all the staff and they really do their best to make you feel welcome. The food is absolutely delicious - huge portions so be warned - and hence excellent value for money! The tuna ceviche I had was so succulent and tasty! Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant twice; once for tapas and coffee in the afternoon, and once in the evening for dinner. Both times the food and the service were fantastic. The wait staff are personable and knowledgeable. The timing is just right. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The pricing is appropriate for the quality of the experience. Definitely try the oxtail.

Best lunch/cocktail spot in Competa!

We stumbled upon this establishment by accident, and we are very glad we did! The mojito and sangria are excellent, really worth the try. The spaghetti bolognese is served with home-made bolognese sauce, which is absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a special plate, you should try the beaf pancakes with tomato chilly sauce. More looking for a light and healthy lunch? Then go for the avocado salad. They have quite a big menu with different choices: pasta, fish, veggie, salads, meat,... And all at very affordable proces. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly! We definetely recommend to pay a visit to El Pampano!

Good food and friendly service

Friendly family atmosphere with good food and large portions. During the day you can enjoy a great view over the valley from restaurant and the outside terrace. We enjoyed the "berenjenas con miel" (Fried eggplants with honey) which was a very generous portion.

Possibly the best restaurant in Cómpeta

As a party of 7 we visited this restaurant at least 5 times in the two weeks. The food is great with a large selection, something for everyone. The service was also excellent with staff remembering us, even waving hello to us when we walked past. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but not extortionate. It was really hot when we visited and we made the mistake of eating too early. My advice is to book a table (booking is almost a necessity in peak periods) for 8:30pm at the earliest, before then you are dodging the sun and feeling the heat. I would happily recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent Restaurant

We have visited this restaurant several times, the food and service is always excellent. Sergio and his staff are friendly and efficient. The menu is very good with plenty of choice, between fish, meat and vegetarian. Th e breakfast menu is also great, we have been twice this week, and will visit again for dinner on Saturday. I cannot recommend El Pampano highly enough Thanks Sergio and your team.

Really Good

Absolutely deserves to be no.1 in Competa, it was our 18th wedding anniversary and we wanted a really special place to celebrate, with two children, didn’t disappoint. Staff were so nice, easy ordering, food delicious, we had steak, lamb tagine and cod and spaghetti bolognaise as mains, very nice, fresh quality ingredients, good portions also and a perfect setting, what more to like? The house white was lovely too. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

A restaurant that deservedly succeeds

Sergio always makes you feel very welcome and looks after you so well throughout your meal. This is an integral part of a good restaurant visit but without good food well presented and quality produce it would fail. I enjoyed duck breast from the specials board and perfectly cooked poco hecho as per my request it delivered in bundles. my wife's Lenguado was equally well cooked and very tasty. This restaurant is deservedly well frequented and repeat custom the norm

It's getting better every time

we generally eat here several times a year and Sergio always greets you with real warmth and the experience is always positive with great service and food from him and his team. the atmosphere relaxed and you're given space to enjoy. last nights food was the best we've eaten there and I don't know if they have a new chef but well done if so. I had one of the specials chicken pastila- a Moroccan classic - and it was fantastic, well spiced and lovely flavours. my wife had the lenguado which we often eat there but again was a lovely piece of fish cooked beautifully.

Best place in Cómpeta

Excellent service and even better food. Ordered the pil pil and tournedos. The size of the beef was overwhelming and it was grilled to perfection - There’s absolutely nothing to complain about! And what a wonderful view over the city during night time. Differently going back, already booked table for tomorrow.

Superb restaurant

We went to Cómpeta for the day and ate in this lovely restaurant. The views of the town and surrounding mountain were stunning. The food was great. I had the octopus to start, my husband had the tuna ceviche. For our main meals we had the steak Rossini which was outstanding and the pork cheek stew also super tasty. Our daughter had spaghetti which was also good. Great service, very friendly!

Now that’s what I call a steak

After a good days hiking we were ravenous and actually in the mood for meat.The piece of beautifully caramelised but pink in the middle steak that arrived was almost intimidating in its size but one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Great views down the valley as well Oh and the roast octopus with a saffron sauce that preceded it was pretty good too. Friendly and prompt service completed a fine evening.
