Il-Girbl definitely became our "go to" restaurant during our stay in Birgu - we loved it! The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was great from the owner and his family and restaurant was spotless. There are several other restaurants in the square but...we really enjoyed having a place we could count on day or night. We would not hesitate to recommend Il-Girbl and would definitely look forward to going there again on a return visit.More

Friendly service. Food was good. What l really liked was that you were able to relax. Ideal location to sit outside and enjoy the small village atmosphere

Just off the main square in Vittoriosa, we called in for lunch. Informal place which we have eaten at before, breakfast was good. Today though lunch was poor. Wine was nice as was waitress but some aspects of the food were poor. The angel pasta...lacked any taste and was bland, think pot noodle in a bowl. My Ravioli was not cooked and was white inside. I mentioned to waitress and she showed it to the chef who said it was al dente, i know what al dente is and this certainly wasn’t. Said they could cook it more for me. Thought this a bit patronising, i declined a replacement, no fuss, wasn’t charged.More

Nice little place on a square so good for a beer and watching the world go by. We also had their last pea pasty, only wish they’d had more!

Great place and let the world go by. Locals and tourists can set and watch the coming and going in the wonderful square. Lillian and family serve fantastic food and very friendly. The price is reasonable quick and efficient. We have been going for 3...years now and always it’s a high standard .More

We have been here on numerous occasions and one of the things that brings us back is how friendly the owners are. Went yesterday and again friendly, attentive service and a good meal at a good price. We go to Birgu a fair bit and...often consider other places, but nearly always end up at Il-Girbi.More

We enjoyed 5 lovely evening dinners and one lunch at Il-Girbi during our one week stay in Kakara. A short pleasant walk around the marina and up the steps into the centre of Birgu, Il- Girbi proved to be an excellent choice in all respects...particularly as it remains open until 20.00 hours. Indeed, this was a huge plus as most of the other cafes in the Square close much earlier. Local Maltese dishes were well cooked and presented by friendly family staff. We are looking forward to our next visit to Malta and a return to Il-Girbi for more mouth-watering local dishes!More

Me and my partner ordered two pints of shandy and two four cheese pizza. As you can see on picture they put cheese slices on top and burnt it. It was horrendous. Don't come here!
